Going back to Pietersen, he's the fourth highest run scorer in the series: http://stats.espncricinfo.com/the-ashes ... ype=series" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Trott has less runs than Agar. <neg>

The fact that Pietersen and Root have such good averages rather suggests that England have essentially scraped by thus far by virtue of Australia being even worse because Clarke's only up there in second because of that innings in the 3rd test where he probably deserved a double century. Meanwhile, for England Root's scored 62 runs across five innings, not including the 180. I think someone pointed out on the BBC that if the Aussies had taken a catch near the beginning of that innings, his average would be in single figures. Pietersen's had more luck but still gets out cheaply far too often. Combined with Cook and especially Trott's poor form and the flaws in the top order become clear. The only batsman who's been consistently on good form this series has been Bell.

Ian Bell <awe>

Trott, Prior and Cook have been terrible. Root has struggled except for 1 innings. KP and Root have got well over half of their runs in 1 innings.

Yes it was not the way it was planned that's for sure. Lets shut all the doubters up and smash them in the final two games.

What's the forecast like in Durham it's been ok down here in the South.

You can see that Cook is being extra cautious. So much so that the bowlers have scored more...

Absolutely awful. Worrying how poor we look against this Australian side. I really do not rate Bairstow. At all.

I'm going tomorrow (hopefully). Bought the tickets off gumtree today. The person is from London (they didn't realise how far Durham was apparently) and have sent the tickets by special delivery to get here before 9. Even if I miss the first half hour it'll only be the turn around after we've lost our last wicket.

I'm excited to see Jimmy rip through there order.

Cook and Trott, who've been s*** pretty much all series, were today England's only decent batsmen.

Interesting to see lots of people calling for Bairstow's head when even after today he has a better average, total number of runs and high score than Trott.

Negative, boring and clueless again, best team in the series is 2-0 down. Going on day 3, fearing the worst for England.
