General Tennis Thread
Didn't really know where to post this so started this thread.
Anyway, Victor Troicki's been banned for 18 months for failing to provide a blood sample at the Monte Carlo Masters back in April: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/tennis/23459655" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Also, Federer's been knocked out of the Swiss Open by Daniel Brands, after losing to Delbonis last week and Stakhovsky at Wimbledon. He seems to be playing a lot a moment, presumably trying to get back in the top four but his form is terrible.

Re: General Tennis Thread
If Federer does crap at the US Open then I would not be surprised if he retired at the end of the year.
Re: General Tennis Thread
I think he'll retire at the end of next year. I think he'd probably think it would be too much of a knee jerk reaction to quit after a bad US Open. He still earns over £40m per year in sponsorship too, he doesn't need the money but he might find it hard to walk away from.Mifune wrote:If Federer does crap at the US Open then I would not be surprised if he retired at the end of the year.
Re: General Tennis Thread
True about the money, but I don't think it would be that much of a knee jerk reaction to quit if he does badly at the US Open. His GS results have declined this year and if that contiunes to the US Open he may feel that it is best to retire when he is still at least slightly at the top, rather than carry on next year and risk falling even further. He has only reach two finals of the last 14 GS, and if he does not reach the final at the US Open it will be the first year since 2002 that he has not reached one of the year's GS finals. I guess it depends on if he wants to retire on the top(ish), or if he is happy to keep going and earn his money.AbsolutelyGlorious wrote:I think he'll retire at the end of next year. Re: General Tennis Thread
I read somewhere that Federer has been experimenting with a larger racquet head size. Obviously he should still be winning those matches but it probably isn't helping in terms of getting back into form.

Also, I hope Federer doesn't retire, I don't think anyone else playing tennis at the moment could play shots like this

Re: General Tennis Thread
I love just going on youtube and watching tennis clips. Some of the racquets smashes are pretty funny as well.

Re: General Tennis Thread
f*** off, no other player would have thought of doing that and implemented it in a match.Mifune wrote: They all could seeing as I can do it.
Re: General Tennis Thread
I am pretty sure I have seen another player do it this year. Badminton players do it all the time as well. So does Ronaldinho in football .Wedge Head Tiote wrote:f*** off, no other player would have thought of doing that and implemented it in a match.Mifune wrote: They all could seeing as I can do it.

Re: General Tennis Thread
The point still applies, Federer is better to watch than the other top players and hits nicer shots as wellMifune wrote:

Re: General Tennis Thread
I can do that shot as well. In fact in tennis my trick shots are probably more reliable than my normal shots .
