Formula E
Formula E (Electric Cars) is only a few months away from the opening race of its premier season and with the new racing revolution pending, worlds media are now picking up on it.
The season will last for 10 rounds (one round still be be decided) and there are 10 teams competing, each with 2 drivers.
Some of the drivers names will be very familiar having raced in Formula 1.
The season goes:
China
Malaysia
Uruguay
Argentina
TBA
Miami, USA
Long Beach, USA
Monaco
Germany
UK
The final round is staged in London in 2015 with cars racing around Battersea Park.
I'm not entirely sure what to make of tbis new formula as I've always associated motor racing with noise, the smell of petrol and burning rubber and if you've never heard an electric race car, click here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-28144411 (go to 1:15)
I'll give it a chance and hope that as the formula grows it will inspire new technologies.

They will have DJs around the track to provide the noise whilst racing goes on

I was translating an article about this apparently, the Monegasque government is investing tonnes into this, so I suppose it'll be a classy event.

Re: Formula E
Cool. Look forward to watching
Re: Formula E
I think Formula 1 switching to those turbo hybrid engines has probably done Formula E a favour as far as noise goes. The gap has really been closed on the "quality" of the sound and how much of an impact it would have on enjoyment.
" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The old noise is a league apart over Formula E and really adds to the atmosphere. The new noise really isn't that much different to Formula E and has nowhere near the impact. In fact, I'd probably prefer the Formula E sound if it was louder. It has more of a high pitched whirring sound which is more similar to the old Formula 1 than the new one.

I'm looking forward to this, love the idea. If this can sustain itself, there'll be some amazing new tech on these cars we'll one day see on our own - just like used to be the case with F1. In many ways, Formula E will quickly become the more relevant formula.

Re: Formula E
Watched the season finale in London and I could only think of Scalextric.
Can't see this catching on at all.

Re: Formula E
I watched some of one race, I think with some time and tweaking it'll be good (as individual teams evolve etc., and more technological freedom is allowed, as is planned over the next few years). They just need to scrap fanboost ASAP, what a gimmicky idea.
