Joshua v Klitschko

Post by Bodacious Benny » Tue Apr 25, 2017 10:02 pm

Big fight that's probably worthy of its own thread. Who's going to be watching? I've never been a massive boxing viewer but will probably watch this one.

There's a documentary on BBC1 now. Klitschko and Joshua go back a fair few years. Joshua used to go to his boxing camps and be his sparring partner. Both boxers have a lot of respect for each other, actually good representatives for the sport rather than the likes of Haye and Bellew.

I watched the Fury Vs Klitschko fight and feel that Klitschko is a faded force.

Joshua to win on points.

Tough to know, he's had time to regroup so could come back strong for one last swansong.

Age is obviously a factor... Wlad obviously isn't what he used to be. Looked gassed in mid rounds in the Fury fight - because he had to actually move for once and be the aggressor. He couldn't cope with Fury's reach as it was something he'd never come up against. This won't be the case in this fight as they're more or less the same height (haven't seen the tale of the tape but I imagine the differences will be minor, if any).

Both will be confident having shared the ring many times over the years sparring... I anticipate an AJ win, but I wouldn't write Wlad off completely, he might be old, but you never lose your ringcraft!

I expect to see Wlad stay on the back foot, AJ the aggressor. Be interesting to see how AJ copes if it goes the distance - it ain't easy carrying all that mass around!

They're identical in height, virtually identical in reach Joshua has 1" over Wlad.

I think Joshua wins it by KO in 7/8th round however Wlad and jab and get points all night long so I wouldn't be surprised by a Wlad decision win either .

Possibly is a faded force but I don't think the Fury fight is one to judge it on. Fury is a class above when it comes to moving around the ring compared to AJ and AJ will be less of an elusive target, he'll be very hittable for WK but it should be interesting to see how they take others punches in the opening round or two.
