Seems to be a lot of interest in the Alfa/Sauber front wing design which generally means it'll be deemed illegal by Merc and Red Bull.

Williams will miss first day of testing on Monday as car isn't fully ready yet so they'll be playing catch up once again.

Renault think they've managed to get an extra 40+ HP out the engine this year and want to push onwards to 3rd in the constructors but I reckon Racing Point (ex Force India) will push them all the way.

Red Bull really is an unknown given the engine supplier change. They always have a good chassis so Honda have to deliver a fast and reliable engine for them to have any chance of 3rd. I cant see that happening though with Honda and predict Red Bull to finish 5th in the constructors.

Strong first day from several teams in terms of mileage.

No major issues (apart from Williams) for any team either in terms of components breaking or engine issues.

I think they'll all be quite happy with today.

Shame Williams are f***ed. Seems pretty disfunctional though - watched the Williams documentary from 2017 (repeated Saturday night) and it seems like a very messy family affair.

Extra point for the fastest lap set by a top 10 finisher moves a step closer to being implemented.

Will be interesting to see what happens, hopefully it introduces strategy variations rather than just a formality to whoever has enough of a gap to pit for new tires towards the end of the race.

Extra point for the driver making the most overtakes in a race might be alright?

Problem I can see with that is teams yo-yoing their drivers to rack up the overtakes for both.

Fair point, overtakes on your teammate are excluded!

I’m all for bonus points to make things more interesting. For most overtakes, fastest lap, quickest pit stop, highest top speed... anything that makes the midfield as interesting as possible

I like all these ideas - most overtakes would be brilliant.

Throw in a bonus point for most crashes.

It’s so boring when Mercedes constantly pretend to be surprised that they’re so much quicker than everyone else. It’s bollocks, they know they can piss all over everyone so just come out and say “yeah, the others aren’t getting close”. It’s just trying to generate fake excitement.
