Cracking race so far! Second safety car.

Well that was cracking, awesome recovery from Hamilton to finish p2. Entertainment all the way through the race.

There's a strong arguement to have a sprint race as part of an F1 weekend I think.

Very enjoyable race. Harsh on Kimi - 10 seconds seemed over the top compared with Vettel on Bottas. Hammy had to be driver of the day after he stormed through the field, but f*** me, cheer up mate. What a misery guts at the end. His poor start was his own fault after all

Yeah, as far as damage limitation goes it was a good outcome so he shouldn't be too down.

Nice fat new contract for Hamilton.

Sounds stupid, but I wonder what the point of being that rich is. Obviously you're not going to turn it down, but when you have that volume of cash you will effectively just be hoarding money. Even after you've bought/buy everything you want, changed your friends and families lives etc. you'd still be raking in more money than you could ever come close to spending. Nice problems to have I guess.

Heck of a race but Hamilton is called before the stewards to explain why he cut over the grass to rejoin the track when he aborted a pit stop.

That was a great race, loads of action. Long may it continue!

The Hamilton situation will be a new one for sure - cant think of anyone who previously bailed out of the pit lane

Just seen the race, decent entertainment for the second half of it. Good strategy call from Merc, rare error from Vettel.

Decent mid grid battle to be honest. Great result for Gasly to keep pace even whilst going long on the first stint.

Felt sorry for Leclerc as he was sandwiched in the first corner and damage was enough to retire.

Thought McLaren looked good in terms of endurance but we're lucky Ocon held up the chasing pack.

Vettel/Bottas incident to me wasn't a racing incident and if anything, Vettel was at fault and should have been punished for closing the door too early knowing it wasn't clean.

Ferrari orders came into play very early which was a shame.

I'm not a Vettel fan, but for me it was just one of those things. With such restricted visibility he couldn't really tell for sure, and the Merc was understeering all over the shop.

Wonder if Red Bull will promote from Toro Rosso?

If so, Dan Ticktum could get a drive through the Red Bull Young Drivers scheme next year.

Whatever they do it could/should kick-start things in the drivers transfer market for next year.

I'm assuming that a fear of a Honda engine next season was part of his reasoning to move to Renault as his whole F1 career has been with a Renault power unit.

Honda are more reliable than last year's version but Toro Rosso are actually less competitive this season.

This current Honda engine still has issues and Honda are still playing catch up which won't change until new engine regulations come into play.

Alonso announced he will retire at the end of the season.

Given his record of moving teams just as they were on the cusp of being truly competitive; McLaren will have a storming 2019 season
