I didn't bother watching it. The races always get a bit tedious for me at this part of the season.

Great race, loved watching the midfield battle, and Bottas chasing down Hamilton was incredible

I thought there were large patches of not too much going on. With his fresh tyres it was an inevitability that Bottas would catch Hamilton.

Brave attempt by Hamilton to snatch the win but there was no chance Mercedes were going to enforce team orders in that situation with Bottas in the faster car. The memories of the reaction by a US crowd to Ferraris staged win at the Brickyard still looms large with the F1 owners.

Ferrari were surprisingly off pace given that Leclerc and Bottas went to the same strategy and Bottas just pulled away after the first pit stops.

Thought Albon had a good race though. From 6 to bottom and finishing 5th.

Ferrari have been found to be cheating using fuel flow, reported by Red Bull ironically, and since been told not to do it have been slow

Honestly, turn 12-15 was non-stop action. The Williams going at each other early on, Norris/Ricciardo on and off throughout the race, Albon getting a lot of good overtakes, Kimi/Hulk swapping positions multiple laps in a row, the two RPs and Giovinazzi, Kyvat and Perez, and the two Haas battled out there too, of course Bottas steaming through and getting Hamilton, reckon Verstappen would have got him too if not for the yellows. The only boring race was Leclerc's.
Bottas catching Lewis was inevitable because he was that much faster all weekend. Hamilton didn't have a chance.

No great surprise, Red Bull sticking with Albon for 2020. He's done a very solid job since replacing Gasly (regular top 6).

I know someone involved with Red Bull who said the decision was based on Albon closing the feedback loop quicker.

Whilst Gasly was decent, getting feedback was slow as he'd only volunteer information when asked. As an example after an installation lap; Gasly would hop out the car and state the car felt good and wait until an engineer asked him what happened at turn x. Albon is straight out the car and tells the engineers about turn x so gives them added time to investigate and rectify the set up.

Makes a massive difference when you’re dealing with such small margins.

Very true. If you spend 20 minutes between FP1 and FP2 trying to ask salient questions then you've lost that ability to tweak the car then FP2 could be a write off.

<scratch>

I know someone at Red Bull who said it's because Gasly just wasn't pushing the car after the incidents in preseason.

Stewards bottled giving Seb more points on his license. Clearly his fault and dangerous

I dunno, he moved across but the contact was minimal. You see harder contact between two cars and they both carry on fine.

Yeah Vettel moved across to get the racing line and squeeze Leclerc, but it's not like he suddenly jerked into him. Vettel initiated it but Leclerc could easily have avoided him if he wanted.

Gutted for Albon. So, so close to the podium after a great drive.

Last few laps were nuts with six drivers going hell for leather for a top 3 finish and ended up in chaos.

Did Hamilton gets points on his licence for the incident with Albon?

Leclerc had been referred to the stewards for a fuel irregularity. Could be trouble.
