I think I'll save it for when I do a full trilogy and all DLC playthrough, preferably on PC. Heard it's meant to be full of nice fan service and a decent swan song though.

You are going to replay the whole thing? Wow, commitment
I'm playing the original for the first time now. The story is great, but after playing the other's the combat drags, the inventory system annoying and the load times :(. The Mako bits are so tedious.

I've played the first through at least 4-5 times already. <awe> Since that was my first exposure to the series I suppose I let some of it's flaws slide, since it was just so good for it's time and I preferred the focus more on the RPG side than action. The Mako bits could be shorter, but I still love the Mako and the ability to land on so many planets, it helped make it feel like a galaxy you're exploring, not just a collection of linear segments.

The inventory system is poor, and one reason I want to do a PC playthrough is for the improvements they made there, but at least you have one. I'm a loot whore and like to compare stats between drops and pick what I want to use, rather than the system they adopted for the others. But more variation in the how the weapons actually operated would have been welcome.

How can anyone be in the 64%? Fools. I hope he kills them from the grave.

Also turns out EC and Citadel have free OSTs.

Really hoping they release a complete bundle with all DLC, preferably for the Summer. <awe>

Can't really be arsed downloading all the individual DLCs that I missed out on.

Citadel is out now, so you'd hope so once those sales slow down a bit. I want a complete trilogy pack on PC <awe>.

Is ME3 worth getting if you have never played the others?

Nope, the other two are better and the story is probably the most important thing in Mass Effect.

Yes, although I'd imagine it'll feel like an empty action RPG shooter without any of the back story or attachment to characters.

I disagree with others here, yes it is worth playing even if in isolation.
People are blinded by the ending, but it's a great game. The tightest fighting of the series, third person cover based shooting but with tactics and powers. A great universe undergoing a cataclysmic event the writing/characterisation is superb. It gives you really hard decisions to make about characters, planets and races that are really interesting. Maybe some of the context will be lost, but it's explained well.

Having said that, if you have the money I'd say play 2 then 3 (the first has issues). Since 2 is also a great game (with a smaller scale focus than the whole galaxy. I did 2 then 3 originally, I'm playing 1 now since I'm involved (it can be a chore sometimes) but I liked this order.
