So Destiny will finally have a single games worth of content?

Is the story included or for a future dlc? <whistle>

Feeling tempted to try to get back into vanilla Destiny, hit 30, and then sell it / give away and get the Year 1 + Taken King bundle in September if I'm enjoying it...

DLS, or anyone else still playing, how is it now?

Aye, I'm still playing.

They've made a lot of improvements, it's far less grindy now then when it first launched. There's no need to farm for mats because you can exchange marks for them, armour takes far less to upgrade and they increased legendary drop rates in the strikes.

You'll be able to get to 33 real quick just using gear from the vendors and it starts off at it's max light level, you only upgrade to unlock the perks. Technically you can even get to 34 in vanilla because although you won't be able to get the 34 light armour from the HoW content, you can get etheric light (which you can use to make any old weapon/armour piece max level) as a possible drop from the nightfall.

There's a lot of pissed off people at the moment over pricing/packages coming with The Taken King but I'm still enjoying it.

Thanks. <gent>

Sounds better, and having an alternate way to reach / pass 30 is a good thing for me with my RNG luck...

The way they've handled The Taken King does sound a bit s*** for people who bought the season pass, and that interview was handled terribly. The pricing is pretty good for newcomers and those who didn't buy everything to this point though. <whistle> The digital content in the collector's edition is a bit of a pisstake though, can understand the anger there.

Odd that there doesn't seem to be a digital version of the "legendary" / bundle edition though, only the full collector's or the DLC only. <scratch>

Yeah, there's absolutely no RNG in getting to max level now. If you do the prison of elders you can get a max level armour piece each week and you also get etheric light for doing it at 34.
Then there's Trials of Osiris which also gives max level armor plus the chance for etheric light so in theory if you did both you could hit level cap in one week.

<laugh> Yeah the interview was an absolute cluster f***. I can see them adding more content for the year 1 players by the time TTK rolls out. Luckily you only have to have a character at 30 rather than own the expansions so you'll get the best of both worlds.

Who needs Red Bull when they used a silly and easily identifyable pattern for their codes? <whistle> (Not that I actually used the keygen...)

DLS, VOG sometime this weekend?

Yeah, exactly. There's a chance I've already got 6 of them at my post master :bandit:

There's also a chance that someone on a widely known forum posted about 7k of them. Just in case anyone wondered.

Yeah I'm up for it, haven't done any vog for a long time.

Depends how much you enjoy grinding cut and pasted quests. I found it fun for a few hours but once you've done ten 'fight your way to point x, defend it from waves of enemies while your robot faffs about' quests it gets a bit dull. Almost worth getting just for the quest where you get to use a sword though <awe>

It's gotten a lot better with the release of The Taken King, which is presumably what Quim would be getting (Legendary Edition is the base game, first year's DLC and the first big expansion / TTK for ~£35). Yeah those early mission designs are still a bit repetitive, but they get a lot better a few hours in, and some of the changes in TTK help to direct and vary your experience (so many quest lines) even at that stage.

The core gameplay is perhaps the best I've ever seen in a shooter. The game that launched a year ago didn't do it justice, but now it's getting there. Mission design gets a lot better in the DLCs, and there's more variation on top of that; the Taken show up throughout the world "randomly" at the right time to make things hectic, strikes are remixed each time you go in, with a variety of different set pieces or opponents that can show up at each stage. Also the story exists and has actual characters in it.

I think the demo's still up on the store, so you can try out the first few missions that way.

Oh and TTK has swords like that which you can use wherever you want... <whistle>
