I follow some accounts on Twitter from Championship Manager 01/02 and it reminds me how good it was. Definitely might have to buy that version, early 2000s by far and away the best.

Started an FM20 save (free on gamepass), disabled the first transfer window to keep things interesting. Had a good pre-season, wrapping up with three 6-0s in a row. First PL game is Chelsea, and practicallly every goal was their first for the club and due to an error. <awe>

May 2022. Going into final day of the season after an unexpected title challenge financed by Lazaro selling for £60m. I could have won it early had Liverpool not turned into unstoppable monsters on a 24 win streak and started winning by five goals routinely to destroy my goal difference lead. They finally started slipping up right around the time my star striker got injured, the team forgot how to finish and started drawing...

Image

Three teams can win the title, and all three relegation spots are to be decided on the final day.

Took the lead and topped the table after 4 minutes, only for Wijnaldum to put Liverpool ahead a minute later. <neg> Two goals ruled out for offside before a trademark Longstaff screamer to make it 2-0.

Image

(Bentaleb is a world-class midfielder at Man Utd via Atletico now, I didn't take him for the £8m as he wanted stupid wages.)

A quickfire double after the break from my bargain basement back-up striker Borja Mayoral puts Newcastle four up. In my first season I managed to pick up a couple of Real Madrid and Barcelona wantaways and cast-offs, offering them a stepping stone to a bigger club...

Not to be outdone, Liverpool then score three in six minutes and the dream is dead. <wah>

Also f*** Lautaro Martinez

At least I've made it to a cup final each season. Lost the FA Cup to Everton first time around, won it next year, and beat them for the League Cup this year.
I managed to get 18 goals out of Joelinton this season. <awe> Lascelles and Longstaff are part of the spine of the team. Willems, ASM, Manquillo, Shortstaff, Shelvey, Schar, and Dummett all still play roles in descending order of importance.

Transfer history:
SpoilerShow
Net spend of around £75m over three seasons.

Currently trying to play in the MLS. The contract rules are utterly baffling.

Yeah quite confusing alright. I always end up signing a crap load of players and then not being able to register them <laugh>
