Sure, so the Western world has vapid media personalities, but do they have people literally dying of the streets of hunger, gas chambers, being sent to Siberian forests to work to the death. The s*** media (ie celebrity puff pieces) comes as a result of freedom of speech, something I'd much rather have than a totalitarian autocratic nightmare.

I'd say the phrase, 'you don't know what you've got till' it's gone.' Is quite fitting.
You sure?

But seriously, I agree. You can spin anything to mean anything if you ignore the context. <ok>

You're right - they aren't fascist - but when I go on a long rant, words like 'totalitarian', 'autocratic', 'meritocracy' and 'fascism' start to fly out very quickly regardless of if they're correct <laugh>

Just about anything can be classed as propaganda really. no matter what you read or watch you have to be remember that the sources have an author/director that is aiming to show something they want you to see, things can be ignored, things can be placed out of context, ect. Look at Iran for an example, Western media will tell you this that and the other for you to form your opinion of them as a dangerous nation, which potentially they are. but also on the flip side good things have come from iran, during the BP oil spill Iran was one of the first nations to offer help in the repair/clean up, also Iranian doctors are some of the leading researchers and specialists working on finding cures for cancer but you dont hear about that.

Where ever you go in the world, each have their own aims and propaganda

Yes, but the dictators in Iran and North Korea are generally more bastardy than our elected Governments. Furthermore, we're allowed to point out the propaganda is utter bollocks.
