Nothing wrong with a nice normal, manly, decent type of backpack. This is what I have:

Nice and big but not too big, good padding, lots of sections, a waterproof cover, good for every day use like carrying books to uni etc but also good for travelling and camping etc.
Yeah, that's a proper bag, if you're going to wear a backpack with leather straps and a buckle you might as well buy a f***ing satchel <disgrace>

He was praising your backpack saying if you one of the Herschel ones you may as well get a satchel

That is the complete opposite of good for everyday use.

You are the complete opposite of good for everyday use. There is nothing wrong with it, I use it everyday and it works very well.

That is a very big bag for everyday use.

I could use a beef joint as a door stop, doesn't make it practical use.

How isn't it practical for everyday use?

Its comfortable to wear. Its good for getting my laptop, notebook and textbooks for uni in everyday. Its good for going to Asda as you can get quite a bot of shopping in there as well as some on carrier bags. Its good for travelling as you can get all your hand luggage in there. Its good if you are going camping because again you can get everything in. Its good for combating the weather as it has a built in weather proof system. Its attractive to look at on the eye. Its big enough for everything you need but not overly big that its awkward to carry around. Its the perfect bag, practical for a wide range of activities and eventualities and great for everyday use.
