He could have used a different analogy.

But when sleeping rough in a park is a Club 18-30 holiday to you, you have to have it pretty bad at home...

I'm all for letting in genuine refugees, but the difficult part is going to be finding out who are the genuine refugees, we need a very strict vetting process. I think some people are taking a very naive view on the issue at the moment, in a perfect world we should welcome all with open arms but we are far from a perfect world. The truth is amongst the masses we will be dealing with both economic migrants and more seriously people who are here to do harm, with the rise of Isis we have to be very careful about who we are letting it as this is the perfect situation to sneak people through our borders.

What can churches do?

Pray for peace; work for peace and justice; and seek to understand the causes of conflict and persecution in our world

It’s the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city.

The BBC has a clear agenda over this, their guilt-tripping is reaching new heights. That photo's clearly staged and that ginger caucasian child doesn't strike me as likely being a Syrian refugee.

Yeah, the BBC have been a shambles here. Contrast that stupid picture with the actual scenes: " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

They even sent a journalist and cameraman out to the scenes of that riot, and the pair did everything they could to not show anything that was actually happening. Until, obviously, the moment when a crowd of the men shout "hey hey, here here..." and spin the camera around to show some guy thrusting his toddler into view.

Germany's security watchdog has reportedly warned the number of Islamic extremists in the country has risen sharply in recent months, and expressed serious concern that they were recruiting among refugees.

The Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV) said the number of radical Salafists had increased to 7,900 in September from 7,500 in June, according to AFP.

It said it believed many were trying to lure asylum seekers into their ranks under the guise of providing humanitarian aid.

NATO has just demanded that Russia "immediately cease" attacks on Syria's opposition and civilians.

Have they also demanded the US immediately cease bombing MSF hospitals?
