Game of Thrones

Post by beardface » Fri Mar 02, 2012 1:48 pm

Book thread is here -> http://www.toonforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7781" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Does anyone watch it?

So far I'm 8 episodes into the first series (so please no spoilers <laugh>). Took a while for me to get into it, but its getting really quite good now.

Going to watch the rest of the series next week some time. <diva>

Yep, I really enjoyed the first season. I usually hate fantasy films (yes, I hate the Lord of the Rings films) but that program is brilliant, keeps you on your toes throughout.

It's gonna be hard not giving any spoilers though, there's so many things to be spoiled <laugh>. What has just happened as of where you're up to now?

I absolutely love it! I shan't say much due to fear of spoilers but there really isn't a poor episode in the entire series.
The actor that plays Tyrion is absolutely fantastic.

I watched Game of Thrones a month or so ago and really enjoyed it.

I also think I might have to vote to lynch Skalps now after saying he hated the Lord of the Rings films <wenger>.

Lord Stark (Sean Bean) is being held hostage because the queen and that little annoying incest son of hers. Starks eldest son is gathering an army to take to the south and John Snow and his wolf just killed a blue man who Sam says was attacked by a white walker. Oh and the crazy barbarian guy is planning on crossing the sea.
I wanted to finish season 1 before starting this thread because I didn't want anyone to spoil anything, but I'm bored. <laugh>

<applause> Good stuff is coming then. New season starts in a few weeks I think actually, so you're just in time <diva>

But anyway, the real question is, just how hot is Daenerys? <awe>

I've only watched the first two episodes and im waiting for the full series to come on DVD, which i think happens this month.

New series starts soon. My mate at work has read the first 4/5 books like and it only seems to get better.

I know im gonna like it because it just seems like a better programme than Spartacus and i loved that.

It's back on 01/04, although it'll be 02/04 before it's available online most likely. As for Daenerys, her dyed to near white hair throws me off, she looks far better brunette.

Agreed. Brunettes are far nicer generally speaking anyway.

I watched the first season as it was coming out on HBO, and immediately bought the books. Just finished the latest one, they are definitely worth the read, and give a lot better insight into the characters, and the mysterious happenings.

Great series and brilliant books too. Been a fan of the books since they first came out and recently re-read them all ahead of the release of book five. The seven year wait between books four and five was like an age.

Best recommendation I can give is that the author has no respect for the leading talent, he is more than happy to kill them off, so you never know if a main character is going to survive a dangerous moment.

Can't wait for series two!

Oh and yes Daenerys is very fit!

If the series follows the books then there is going to be a fantastically brutal scene in series 3. Won't spoil it but it will surprise alot of people who haven't read the books.

<laugh> Had that effect when I was reading it for the first time. It was a "f*** me i wasn't expecting that!" moment. Had to put the book down for a while before carrying on reading.

There is a great forum re these books and the series. One guy went through the first four books noting every named character who died. Can't remember the number but it was huge. Will see if I can find it again <scratch>
