What would win a fight between a gorilla and a grizzly bear
Both are fully grown and they're in an environment which doesn't offer either an unfair advantage.
I'm going to say the gorilla. while they're slightly smaller, and quite a bit lighter; they're way stronger, more intelligent and have the ability to grip.

I think bear. Bears a programmed to kill anything, gorillas are more peaceful.

I can't see a gorilla being very peaceful if it's getting attacked by a bearPull the Arfa One wrote:I think bear. Bears a programmed to kill anything, gorillas are more peaceful.

Yeah, but it's not in their nature to destroy anything that could potentially be a threat, like bears are. Bears have huge claws compared to fingernails of gorillas, also brown bears are MASSIVELY bigger than silverback gorillas.Chiene wrote:I can't see a gorilla being very peaceful if it's getting attacked by a bearPull the Arfa One wrote:I think bear. So you're saying the bear will attack first and gain the upper hand. I agree but still fancy the gorilla. Yeah they're bigger and heavier but they carry a lot of fat whereas gorillas are all muscle.Pull the Arfa One wrote:Yeah, but it's not in their nature to destroy anything that could potentially be a threat, like bears are. A bear would f*** a gorilla up .
Re: What would win a fight between a gorilla and a grizzly b
I added a bit more to my argument, but I think the gorilla falls short by some distance in every category other than intelligence; speed, size, weaponry and fighting mindset all fall in favour of the bear.Chiene wrote:So you're saying the bear will attack first and gain the upper hand. So did I. In terms of weaponry the bear has the advantage with it's claws, but the gorilla can grip which the bear can't and has incredible arm strength. They both have similar bite power I assumePull the Arfa One wrote:I added a bit more to my argument, but I think the gorilla falls short by some distance in every category other than intelligence; speed, size, weaponry and fighting mindset all fall in favour of the bear.Chiene wrote:

Pound for pound gorillas might be stronger, but I think overall brown bears are stronger. Evolutionarily, kodiak bears are pretty close to polar bears (they can interbreed), and are almost as big. Polar bears eat 2 tonne walruses, and I've seen a (dead) 2000lb brown bear. Its gotta have some serious strength to carry itself around.Chiene wrote:So did I. Grizzly bear, those claws can f*** s*** up.

Bears are more ferocious.
Bears have claws rather than nails.
Bears are larger and heavier.
Bears are carnivores rather than largely vegetarian.
Bears use their teeth more to kill.
Bears are faster.
Bears can crush a skull in a single blow.

Gorillas can supposedly lift 10 times their body weight, while grizzlys are around 0.8. There have been instances of gorillas taking bullets from a magnum to the head and surviving (supposedly). And the gorilla is the stronger of the twoMifune wrote:Bears are more ferocious.

Re: What would win a fight between a gorilla and a grizzly b
The gorilla would possibly have the greater stamina also while being more agile and flexible
I dunno
Re: What would win a fight between a gorilla and a grizzly b
No way is a gorilla stronger than a bear. I don't know what you mean by lift (brah), but bears can flip over half tonne boulders with a single paw. In terms of stamina, bears are the more active species, so i suspect they have greater natural stamina.
Re: What would win a fight between a gorilla and a grizzly b
Bears can bite through iron and are heavier and taller than gorillas (a large Kodiak bear can stand at over 10 foot tall and weigh up to 1500 pounds). I would also strongly dispute that gorillas are stronger; bears can lift well over half a tonne with just one paw and that is not even when they are enraged. Gorillas may be more agile but bears are more powerful which would win in a neutral environment. A bear would only need one good hit to win, can't see how the gorilla could beat a bear.Chiene wrote:There have been instances of gorillas taking bullets from a magnum to the head and surviving (supposedly). Re: What would win a fight between a gorilla and a grizzly b
Gorillas are definitely stronger. I think you're underestimating just how crazy strong they are. I dunno how they measure the 'can lift x times their bodyweight' stats or how they're actually lifting it or whatever
Here's a gorilla ripping apart a tree though that looks like it's about 9 inches thick as though it was nothing. They're unbelievably strong. The grip strength must be crazy, I'm sure if it got hold of a grizzly the fight would be over. It could easily break bones just with it's grip and rip the bear apart by brute force

And here is a bear easily tipping over a 700 pound dumpster.
Re: What would win a fight between a gorilla and a grizzly b
Not denying that gorillas are strong, but a grizzly could take that tree down with its piss.
