House of Cards

Post by Little Lion Man » Tue Jan 13, 2015 8:39 pm

Basic Description
A Congressman works with his equally conniving wife to exact revenge on the people who betrayed him.
Has anybody else been watching this? Interested to see what others think of it.

The main reason I've created the thread is because the season 3 trailer has just been released <awe> I'll put it in a spoiler in case some people aren't up to date <ok>

First couple of seasons were great, no interest in watching the trailer though. Will blindly binge whenever it's available.

Fair enough. I normally forget the content of a trailer within a day so I don't mind watching them <laugh>

You not one to watch as they come out each week? I find it much more engrossing that way <awe>

It's a really impressive remake, bringing some old school source material to a new country in a slick way.

The old BBC series is good in it's old way. Slower and cheaper, but the stuff with the reporter is much creepier and more intense

Netflix release the whole season at once, so all of season 3 comes out on the 27th of Feb.

Didn't even know that it is a remake! Is the old BBC series worth watching?

Seriously?! Well f***. The 27th/28th is going to be a complete write off for me! <diva>

Maybe. It's only 4 episodes a season. It's old fashioned, waaaay less stylish and very 80s in some bits. But I think the main character (and his wife) is more sinister and I preferred that

EDIT 4 eps a season, three seasons (but can't find the last)

The BBC series was just a four episode drama, wasn't it? Still very good though.

I quite like the US House of Cards. Some poor acting here and cringe-making dialogue there, but generally enjoyable. The whole China storyline in season two was boring as hell but I'll definitely binge watch season three next month.

The trailer definitely indicates that they're going to end it the same way the BBC did.

One more episode left to watch now. It will have to be the greatest of all time in order to save this utterly **** season.

Yeah it wasn't anything special. What a shame that this show has completely transformed into a relationship drama. The guy who played Putin deserves a clap for one of the best TV performances I've seen in years though.

Season 3Show
Nice of Netflix to make the final scene of the season the thumbnail for the last episode. Yeah it was obviously coming, but at least leave a little bit of doubt.

Series 1 of this was brilliant, Series 2 was alright, Series 3 was appallingly bad, Series 4 and it's getting back to its best.

This is a very strong series. I like how the wife dresses the protagonist. Especially her shoes, we found with his wife many interesting options here We are looking forward to new episodes.
