Definitely, and I'd love that to be us if he did move but I'd be very surprised.

Yeah he's too good for us, I think even a loan would be unlikely. The lowest I could see him going is somewhere like Everton. Where he might actually do quite well.

I think the bid rejected comment was in relation to Thiago Maia from Lille. As for Rondon, I'd take him for 16m in this market. But agree that he shouldn't be our number 1 priority target. We need more than one forward anyway, even if we keep hold of Mitro. Those rumours for Rashford on loan seem unrealistic, but could be decent. Or maybe see if Welbeck is avaliable.

Wouldn't touch Welbeck with a barge pole. Rondon would be a decent pick up at 16mill, which just shows how mad this market is. Shouldn't be our no 1 target.

Welbeck would be decent at this level. Better than what we have, going into the last year of his contract. Unlikely to get much football with the attacking options arsenal have. For me be worth a punt

The entire concept of hopefully getting £15m for Mitro, then spending £16m on Rondon, an older, poorer, Mitro is insane if it's true. It also utterly destroys the idea that 'Mitro doesn't fit our system' given Rondon is basically a marginally more mobile version of him. If it were anyone other than Rafa in charge we'd be screaming bloody murder. Even more so if Mitro has a good World Cup.

Of course if he's sent off in the opening fixture I withdraw my objection...

I'll still say that Rondon is a decent striker. I live in the West Midlands and have seen a fair bit of WBA over the last few years and he's decent. Considering he played under Pulis for a fair chunk of his time there he hasn't got a bad goalscoring return and has scored some beauties. A real handful too. If we were selling Gayle and Mitro I'd happily take Rondon as one replacement.

With Mitro I've always thought it's more that he doesn't fit in behind the scenes rather than on the pitch, he's not exactly everyone's cup of tea personality wise.

I'm pretty happy with our defence as is tbh, we need a LB and a RB but apart from that we're pretty solid.

I don't think one has to do with the other. With Mbemba seemingly gone, we're left with 3 CBs, and it wouldn't be surprising if Rafa did want to restock the depth. Whether Skrtel is a good option for that is another matter though.

Skrtel as a squad player for a year would be fine I guess, so long as Lascelles and Lejeune remain our first choice pairing.
