Any chance I'll still get a country allocated for the World Cup?

The Belgium manager has said he'll make 10 changes for the England game to protect his players. If England win they win the group and will face Brazil in the QF (assuming Brazil beat Mexico). So both teams may want to lose...

Also assuming England beat whoever we get in the next round <laugh> I understand why people look at the permutations and that, easiest road to the final etc. But, and it's a cliche, we have to take it one game at a time. Everyone was looking past Iceland at the euros. Columbia/Senegal/Japan aren't exactly pushovers either. Winnable for sure, we'd probably even be favourites. If this tournament has proven anything though so far, it can easily go wrong.

Six and two threes really. If we win the group its a tougher quarter final (probably Brazil) but easier semi final (probably France/Uruguay). If we finish second its an easier quarter final (Sweden/Switzerland) but tougher semi final (probably Croatia/Spain).

Personally i'd rather beat Belgium, win the group and carry that winning mentality and momentum forwards into the knockout rounds. Croatia and Uruguay aside all of the big favourites have lost or drawn a game so the momentum of a winning run could be key, especially for the confidence of our young squad.

Just go out to win. If you start worrying about who you'll play 2 or 3 games down the line you'll get complacent, and it's highly disrespectful to the likes of Sweden and Switzerland. Imagine if we did actively try to finish 2nd, got to the quarters, and faced Sweden. Every single Swedish player would be pumped up to the nines, knowing that a) it was the biggest game of their lives and b) we had been disrespectful towards them by viewing them as an easy game. We'd probably lose, or at least get lumps kicked out of us.

Right now, I'd rather see us go out and make a statement by comfortably seeing off Belgium, winning the group, and showing no fear going forward. Have the likes of Brazil going 'We'd rather avoid England' than us saying that about them. This idea of an 'easy run' to the final doesn't exist. Any team from the QF onwards deserves to be there and isn't there by accident, so any game is tough.

It would be pretty funny if they ended up getting knocked out by Senegal or Japan anyway <laugh>

It is a bit bigheaded assuming that playing them, or Colombia is an easy win.
