Looks like Zinchenko may be on his way to Wolves for £16m. Hard to judge his potential but he looked quite decent when he played for Man C last season, although playing in that team obviously helps.

£16m isn't a lot nowadays and he's only 21, might have been worth a look as a LB / wingback to rotate with Dummett. Rafa does like younger players that he can develop too.
He's pretty s*** when it comes to developing young players <scratch>

Wouldn't surprise me if he's going to play CM at Wolves as well.
Lascelles <roll>

(Ok, one player doesn't prove a point!)

He's definitely gotten better under him, but he was already a starting CB when Rafa took over, and I think the thing I still have questions about is how well he can work a young player into the squad. Not to say he isn't good at it, just that it's been hard to judge so far because he was pretty committed to his preferred lineup last year so I'm withholding judgement for now.

Perhaps, maybe it's just a perception that I have as he signs all these random players when in reality a lot of them may not be young, just not very well known.

I think that's fair, his recruitment choices the past couple years have felt pretty scattershot, and then seems like he doesn't have a plan for how he'll use some of them, or how to put them in a position to succeed. Might sound like I'm being really critical, when really I can't argue with the results.

Dummett and Perez have both improved under him, and I'd argue the fact he's got ridden of pretty much our entire U23 squad speaks more for their raw ablity as players rather than his ability to develop them.

Both established first team players rather than young prospects though. In 2 and a bit years he's not brought a single player through despite a couple being on the fringe when he took the job.

I wasn't suggesting he has to go, or that I was even talking about academy players. Just that it seems tough to crack his squads because once he's set his system he doesn't do too much rotation, and usually keeps substitute appearances pretty short. If you're a young or new player trying to break into the side and earn more minutes, it seems like it could be a bit daunting (I'd use Murphy as an example). I'm not even complaining that Rafa took that approach, because it worked for us, and the consistency probably got them to overachieving 10th - just that it might be a bit hard on the edge of the squad.

Staggering for a 33 year old. But he's probably got 5 decent seasons left (if not more, the mans a machine) so £20m per season (before wages) doesn't sound unreasonable for a guaranteed 30 odd goals. Although Italy is a more defensive league there are still some s*** teams in Serie A that he'll absolutely nail.

I'd go as far to say next 2-3 even. It may be a more defensive league overall, but there's always a couple really high goal scorers, and I've no doubt he'll be one, especially with how Juve dominate the league.

Undoubtedly a great player but a very different kind of player to Sane/Sterling who I don’t think could have played much better either side of Aguero last season.
