Lejeune suffering from knee knack
Re: Lejeune suffering from knee knack
He's a centre half. If he wasn't doing much we would have conceded a hell of a lot more goals...

I'm not sure what you're saying now. Are you suggesting our defenders don't do much, because that's not a phrase I'd ever associate with this club?

Re: Lejeune suffering from knee knack
No, what I am saying is that historically people complain about Dummett and give him no credit, and as he returned to the team later in the season around the point at which form improved, could we not also credit him for the upturn?
The same applies with dropping Merino, incidentally.
My point was that I didn't see anything specifically done (as opposed to not done) by Lejeune to suggest he was the linchpin in the upturn in fortunes. Whilst I accept that he didn't do anything wrong, and it could all be him, I won't be panicking when he's unfit. It's different if it was someone like Shelvey or Lascelles who it is clear they are very influential on the style of play and performance respectively.

Re: Lejeune suffering from knee knack
I think a lot of it was a combined effort of Lejeune, Dummett, Shelvey, Diama and Perez (as well as the new loan signings) really kicking it up a gear which lead to our end of season form.

Re: Lejeune suffering from knee knack
I think there's little doubt that going to a consistent team rather than the far too random squad rotation helped us in the second half of the season, and yes I absolutely would credit Dummett along with Diame's improvement in form along with Lejeune with our upturn, but surely you can see the difference he made in the middle of defense? Of course it's not all him, and Schar might be decent as an alternative, but Lejeune just looks like a player. Not one of these stop gap alright ones we've had over the years (the Rozehnals, the Bassongs, the Yanga-Mbiwas etc), but an actual proper footballer.

Got his name on the back of one of our shirts when we signed him, thought he was going to be classColly wrote: ↑Fri Jul 27, 2018 12:20 pmI think there's little doubt that going to a consistent team rather than the far too random squad rotation helped us in the second half of the season, and yes I absolutely would credit Dummett along with Diame's improvement in form along with Lejeune with our upturn, but surely you can see the difference he made in the middle of defense? Now it just looks like someone's vomited a load of random scrabble letters over my back.

f***! That'll be him gone for most of the season. Operation, physio, training, match practice etc. Can forget about seeing him until Feb at the very earliest.

Re: Lejeune suffering from knee knack
Rafa better look at left back options, sharpish. Dummett can cover Lejeune but we're down to 6 senior defenders to choose from for 2/3 of the season.

It'll be Clark or Schar partnering Lascelles, but definitely need LB cover for Dummett. We also have no RB cover other than Sterry who is completely unproven.omegaprimevkm wrote: ↑Sat Jul 28, 2018 11:28 pmRafa better look at left back options, sharpish. Let's hope it never comes to that...

He's out for the best part of the season. He needs surgery. Read it on his instagram this morning.
It’s the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city.

On first glimpse I thought Shelvey's head was some sort of gym ball.
