Re: Other Clubs Transfers Summer 2018/19
Williamson must have been banging the goals in from set-plays in training considering how long Pardew persevered with that tactic

Re: Other Clubs Transfers Summer 2018/19
Williamson's job was never to bang them in, his job was to nod it back across, therefore we needed to win two headers every corner to score. Surprisingly it didn't work. I remember watching a game on BT where even Michael Owen was able to spot that obvious fact.
It did always amuse me though that immediately after his move to Palace they did score a "Williamson corner", with Shola in the Williamson role...

Yeah, he also owns the Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL. Unsurprisingly they've played a few of the Wembley games. In no small part to how (relatively speaking) poor their attendance is/was in Jacksonville.Alfie wrote: ↑Thu Aug 09, 2018 9:02 pmAbsolutely mental. If they can all gel they'll have a good season, played some good football towards the end of last season. No wonder Mitro was happy to do one.Fulham announced five players, all after the deadline - Marseille midfielder Andre-Frank Anguissa in a £22.3m deal, Bristol City left-back Joe Bryan for £6m and Sergio Rico, Luciano Vietto and Timothy Fosu-Mensah on loan. That made them the first promoted team ever to spend over £100m in the summer.
Think they're still owned by the bloke who wants to buy Wembley.

Two biggest striker deal in English football, Mitro and Benik Afobe. what an odd window

He’s owned them for a fair while now though and never spent like this before. He’s simply investing/betting on future TV money, imagine that.Remember Colo wrote: ↑Fri Aug 10, 2018 2:24 pmYeah, he also owns the Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL. Absolutely, this is a completely different approach than they've taken since he's taken over. I suspect he's also hired some smart people to make decisions in their front office, as I imagine he isn't that involved himself.TBC wrote: ↑Fri Aug 10, 2018 3:01 pmHe’s owned them for a fair while now though and never spent like this before. Good idea, not meaning this in any sort of derogatory way but it's a bit like an X-Factor type thing. You get the opportunity to show what you can do and hope someone takes a chance on you.Tsi wrote: ↑Wed Aug 15, 2018 11:46 amInteresting read https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/45043408
I'm not sure why the PFA say that this isn't feasible in England. There's more than enough money swirling about the game and I'm sure the FA could run something like this. It'd also tie in to mental health agenda's as obviously a lot of players suffer when they're out of the game as that's all they've ever know, giving some of them a route back into football (potentially) could be a lifeline for them.

It's also pretty good that they give ex players coaching roles that they might not get at club level for whatever reason, so two ways back into club football so to speak.Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Wed Aug 15, 2018 11:54 amGood idea, not meaning this in any sort of derogatory way but it's a bit like an X-Factor type thing. Agreed, and silly to make excuses about it not being plausible in England. Have a rethink, and organise it. Lots of non-League clubs have to do recruitment on shoestring budgets, but systems that allow some good visibility on these players would change a lot.Tsi wrote: ↑Wed Aug 15, 2018 12:01 pmIt's also pretty good that they give ex players coaching roles that they might not get at club level for whatever reason, so two ways back into club football so to speak.Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Wed Aug 15, 2018 11:54 am

Claudio Marchisio has left Juventus, only 32. Sign him up!

How come? I thought free transfers were okay until October or something?
Not that we'd pay his wages or signing on fee mind.

He'd be a free agent should be able to register him as long as there is space available in the squad.
But as Benny says no way could we afford his wages or signing on fee.
Talk of him moving to MLS though NYFC being the favorites

I'll Hazard a guess
Re: Other Clubs Transfers Summer 2018/19
have to have been a free agent from June or whenever it was that the transfer window opened. Otherwise you could just get a player to buy out their own contract and sign them on a free and what would be the point of the new window
