In Corfu arm, bitten by swarms of the bastards. Portugal in three weeks, not so many there thankfully.

Re: Holidays
The heat isn't really an issue, at least not for safari when you're venturing out early hours and late evenings.
As for mosquitos, I actually didn't get bitten at All, and only saw 1 in the 4 weeks I was there. Obviously take precautions like using deet (50%), on yourself/clothes/bedding, sleep under the nets etc but generally they weren't a nuisance. I think the malaria medication makes you unattractive or something because even members of our party that are normally magnets didn't get bit.

Re: Holidays
Great news! I've been monitoring the weather (cooler than Britain!) and taken all the stated precautions so I am confident it'll be a good trip. Will miss a number of games whilst out there, thoughPTAO? wrote: ↑Mon Aug 06, 2018 7:31 pmThe heat isn't really an issue, at least not for safari when you're venturing out early hours and late evenings.

I'm in Ibiza in 4 weeks time
Re: Holidays
Yeah and I'm not sure if it's different now, but when I was there WiFi was non-existent in the safari lodges so I had to pay to use their computers to check up on us. Still remember the elation of coming back all dusty, getting a pint of Tusker and checking in when we beat the Mackems and signed Santonomegaprimevkm wrote: ↑Tue Aug 07, 2018 7:40 amGreat news! You'd think that the bastards could put WiFi out in the middle of the Savannah.

You could always attach some form of antenna to a giraffes neck to utilse their height for better coverage.Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Tue Aug 07, 2018 2:02 pmYou'd think that the bastards could put WiFi out in the middle of the Savannah.

Then they'd know it was Christmas time because they'd get a lot of emails telling them how many days they had left to shop.Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Tue Aug 07, 2018 2:06 pmExactly OT. Wasn't Band Aid supposed to address this sort of thing?overseasTOON wrote: ↑Tue Aug 07, 2018 2:03 pm

Re: Holidays
Well the lodges had wired internet, I don't think it would have been too hard to hook up a wireless router to provide it in the communal areas.Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Tue Aug 07, 2018 2:02 pmYou'd think that the bastards could put WiFi out in the middle of the Savannah.
Having said this, I'm glad they didn't. The whole point of being there was to be fully immersed in the location and atmosphere. Lack of phones was great.
