It's gonna be jam packed and no doubt stuffy. You will suffer! Greasy food, coffee and water will ease itBodacious Benny wrote: ↑Fri Aug 17, 2018 10:04 pmYep, 9am out of Edinburgh and 3.5 hour journey back to the Midlands

How long were you there? I really like a US city break, what were your highlights?

5 nights. Highlight has got to be the food. Every meal was spectacular, even down to a ham sandwich from a cafe, you can walk into any place and be guaranteed a good meal. First time in the US so I'm not sure if it's the same everywhere.Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Sat Aug 18, 2018 9:07 am

All of the main attractions are free, we did a free Capitol Building tour, Aerospace museum, American Indian museum and a few more, could have stayed on The Mall for a week. For the height of tourist season it's such a chilled out city. No one rushes around everyone is polite.
Stayed on The Wharf which was expensive but amazing, humidity was pretty bad at times so I probably wouldn't go back August or July but everywhere is air conned so it's not the end of the world. Solid 9/10 trip.

Re: Holidays
Got back from Edinburgh yesterday, as awesome as ever Saw loads of decent acts at the fringe and some s*** ones but that's what it's all about.
Off to Wales tomorrow for a few days around the Lampeter and Cardigan bay area if anyone knows any nice towns, decent walks etc around that area.

Went to a DC United game last night wearing my Newcastle top... only to be sat in front of a family of mackems. Of all the places to bump into a f***ing mackem

Re: Holidays
So my break to Helsinki and Stavanger was certainly eventful got a job and engaged
Took two weeks off in total to meet up with the now to be wife's family she's from Hommersak about an hour away, so after I'd finished my business in Helsinki and Stavanger I drove down to spend the rest of my break with herself and the family, whilst there we kayaked out to Usken and spent a few days there camping. On the last night there proposed and when we got back to Hommersak the next morning whilst celebrating with her family her brother who works for Sandnes Ulf told me the club was looking for a player liaison officer and put me in contact with the clubs chairman. Drove down to meet him before I left back for Dublin and before I boarded my flight back home he called me to offer me the job which I accepted though I won't start until the start of next season in Norway which is March/April.
Which is good as it gives me time to finish stuff up a Bohs and sort out moving stuff to Norway and learning how to actually speak Norwegian (better then I can)

How did you get into scouting? Were you a semi-decent player and it evolved from there?
Edit: just re-read that your player liaison officer, but sure you said about scouting in the past.

Re: Holidays
Yep i'm currently a scout for Bohemians, played for them in my youth but got a bad injury and they took me on as part of their scouting team for youngsters in the Leinster area, it kind of evolved from there into an international scout for them going over to youth tournament around Europe as part of that I acted as a player liaison so I had the experience from that, also where I met the missus as I said above her brother works as part of the Sandnes Ulf youth setup so she happened to be around helping out as part of one the events the NFF were running in Stavanger.
Moving to Norway was always on the cards as she wanted to move back home. Obviously leaving Dublin and Bohs is a big step for me but they took it well and gave me their blessing.
