Supposedly the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia (worth 3 billion) is interested in buying a football club, majority of interest seems to be in Man United but they aren't for sale, Think if we all write a letter to him he'll offer Ashley 300m for Newcastle ???

tbh if we became the Saudi version of Man City I could see past the kidnapping and secret murders

Bit of a poor billionaire, but at least we can push through that deal for Thorgen Hazard.

This would be absolutely vile imo, that lot need to be put in front of The Hague. Or Den Haag <scratch>

I hope we stay well clear of war criminals and murderers.

Having said that, 200m war (ahem) chest would be sweet, as would finishing in the top 4. And it's not like he could murder 52,000 of us on live TV, is it?

If he made us successful I'm sure we could turn a blind eye to all the atrocities in the same way Man City fans have.

That said it would be preferable if we got an owner who's also a decent person. Can't have everything though.

Would be pretty embarrassing if the same people who weren't happy about Wonga were perfectly content with the Saudi royal family owning us.

Indeed, but a lot of football fans are fickle hypocrites.

The same people that would have faux outrage about being owned by the Saudi's would be parading the Saudi flag down Northumberland Street and wearing tea towels on their head if we won the League Cup. No more fickle folk than football fans.

Lets hope so, that said I don't blame him for backing out of a deal when the buyer is offering you 130m less than the asking price.
There's no way on this planet that Newcastke United was worth close to 400 million.

300 m is about to right though.

This was reported late today in the Mail

Sportsmail has learned that a group of ‘seriously wealthy’ US businessmen can meet Newcastle owner Mike Ashley’s £300million asking price.
The group are ready to nip in ahead of a rival consortium, reported as being led by former Manchester United and Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon.
However if Newcastle, in 19th place, start to look relegation certainties any prospective deal is likely to collapse.
The Mail ‘source’ saying:
“We are talking seriously wealthy people.
”They have the funding and see the potential.
“They see a sleeping giant and feel they cannot only have a real go at providing the success fans crave but also take Newcastle to the next level globally.
“Any potential buyer is wary of the league position. The fear is that you pay £300m now, back the manager with another £100m in January and still get relegated.
“All of a sudden you’ve spent £400m for a club that is suddenly only worth £150m. It’s a huge risk.
“Ideally, Newcastle go on a run and a sale goes through once the window has closed when they’re close to, or have stayed up.”

No, they wouldn't. The only people who would put tea towels on their heads are the naive simpletons who would be happy with that scenario in the first place because football is all they have.

I'm pretty sure any outrage expressed would be from those with at least a basic moral compass and would not be "faux".

If we were bought by the Saud family then the half time music could comprise of music by Sean Riyadh-er, Mike and the Mecca-nics, Jeddah-ward and when we lose we could play Bad Medina-cine by Bon Jovi.
