Which other manager could have us bottom this season? Oh wait...Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Sun Oct 21, 2018 9:33 pms***
So what other available manager do you think would have gotten us to p10 last season? Sure, he's made mistakes, but to say he's been s*** in his time here is f***ing absurd.

Won the Championship and finished 10th as a promoted side?ALF wrote: ↑Sun Oct 21, 2018 8:44 pmI think anything he has done in the past is completely irrelevant when we're discussing how good he is as a manager. I think based on his time here, he's s***.Burnopfield wrote: ↑Sun Oct 21, 2018 8:41 pm
Don’t think you can describe him as s*** but I do not think he is what we need now.
We need someone who can recruit well with limited funds - we are Liverpool or Real Madrid. His use of the money has been poor and decisions in letting certain people go poor.
Ashley is also to blame for not investing in a good scouting network plus being too hasty getting rid of Pardew and Hughton
However, I agree he's not what we need now as well. He can't work with Ashley and unless anyone has a spare £300m he isn't going anywhere. So Rafa needs to go. Soon.
*inb4 he got relegated with us, even though he arguably didn't have enough time to turn things round.*

I think him, Longstaff and Roberts are all pushing for a place. No chance they get a game, if by some miracle they do it'll be 5 minutes.Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Mon Oct 22, 2018 7:22 pm

Re: Match day thread - NUFC v Brighton
I'd be tempted to have him at least on the bench at the weekend. I'm all for protecting young players' development but he's banging them in for fun and we can't buy a goal.
It'll be Joselu and Perez though, almost guaranteed.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves lads. People are quick to forget 10 Phil Aireys ("the next Alan Shearer") for each Andy Carroll.

Don't think anyone thinks that he's the next messiah, but there's a definite argument that he can't be any worse. Not that Rafa would ever put him in the squad.

Re: Match day thread - NUFC v Brighton
Putting him in the squad at the moment would be madness. It would end his career before it starts.
Re: Match day thread - NUFC v Brighton
He'd never put him on anyway, so at least he'd get a comfy seat for the match. Terrible view though.

He probably wouldn't leave the bench, so not madness.

Re: Match day thread - NUFC v Brighton
Still madness. We've got limited attacking choices as it is on the bench so not taking one of them to instead give some lad a day out is madness. What if someone gets injured or we need to do something to change the game? Now isn't the time to be pissing about, we need to start winning some (a lot of) games before we get that luxury.Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Fri Oct 26, 2018 11:55 amHe probably wouldn't leave the bench, so not madness.
He should only be in the squad of we would be comfortable giving him game time. At this stage that would be disastrous for him. He's had about 5 good games for a non-competitive team in a non-competitive league and thats it.
If we think he's showing promise get him out on loan to a league 1 or 2 side in January and see what he can do in a competitive environment. Then reasses the situation in the summer.

I'm not saying he'd change anything, but nor do our other attacking options generally, so at worst it'd be a status quo.
