Sky: Peter Kenyon in talks about taking over NUFC
Re: Sky: Peter Kenyon in talks about taking over NUFC
On BBC news this morning...
Can Ashley be so devious as to rustle this story up in time for the Jan transfer window.?

The thing that makes me think that there could be something in this is that he seems very focused on house of Fraser and might not want the distraction of us / want more funds towards that.

Also it's been very quiet and come out of nowhere, hich a few of us have said it's how we think a takeover will happen, my only concern is the fact he announced it himself and the cynical side of me assumes it's been done to invite competition which could drag on the process.Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Wed Dec 05, 2018 9:02 amThe thing that makes me think that there could be something in this is that he seems very focused on house of Fraser and might not want the distraction of us / want more funds towards that.
Re: Sky: Peter Kenyon in talks about taking over NUFC
If I'm being really cynical I would observe the following.
If a deal is close- why would Ashley stir up the media?
We need faces in Jan . If we don't get them and it looks like same old - perhaps Benitez walks (I think unless there's a real sign of change he will be gone in next 6-8 months).
Is Ashley stirring this story to keep Benitez on board / prevent a clamour for Jan signings?
If we get to Feb and we have no new faces and No sign of a takeover happening- I recommend a mass season ticket boycott.
For Ashley only Money talks
Hope I'm wrong and we are sold by xmas

I think Ashley is just trying to speed things up before Christmas to avoid having to invest significant quantities in January (Almiron alone would be £25m...)

A mate of a colleague has confirmed for me that a plane did indeed land at Newcastle airport today and several people got off.

Been thinking about this today, Ashley has made everyone so sceptical over the years, but surely it would be against his interests to f*** around so publicly, he needs to come across as a professional businessman when talking like this as it could impact peoples willingness to do business with him. The Staveley saga he was quiet and it was all via media sources, I can't remember a time when he has been so vocal regarding a potential sale

This. And it's not as if he would actually think a rumour like this would really quiet fans wanting January transfers, or that Rafa would change his mind one way or the other about staying in the job because of a Sky news interview. Now this might lead to nothing, but it won't be because this was all just a PR stunt to try and quiet fans.Don Sholeone wrote: ↑Wed Dec 05, 2018 6:15 pmBeen thinking about this today, Ashley has made everyone so sceptical over the years, but surely it would be against his interests to f*** around so publicly, he needs to come across as a professional businessman when talking like this as it could impact peoples willingness to do business with him. Re: Sky: Peter Kenyon in talks about taking over NUFC
FYI a representative of Mike Ashley was at the MLS final last night.
Take that as either a scouting operation, finalising Almiron deal or perhaps negotiating a sale of the club

I'll Hazard a guess

Probably Steve Nickson, who’s chief scout and has been out there working on the deal to sign Almiron.lassassinblanc wrote: ↑Sun Dec 09, 2018 4:14 pmFYI a representative of Mike Ashley was at the MLS final last night.

Just got this text from my dad, his mate is 'itk', probably crap like.
"Been told Newcastle have been sold to a USA consortium headed by Peter Kenyon. Announcement later today or tomorrow!"
