January 2019 Signing #2 Miguel Almiron (Club record £21m!)
Confirmed!
Supposedly £20.5m fee, and supposedly in the air on his way across the pond now. The timing is no coincidence, but I'm fairly optimistic. I thought the deal was completely dead. Seemingly been our chief target for months, so if it comes off then it's nice we've managed to get a top target for a change.

Re: The Miguel Almiron Thread
Never thought I’d be so meh about us finally breaking our transfer record. Nothing against Almiron, just how I feel about the club atm thanks to Ashley, and the fact we’ve waited this long in the first place.
On the player himself, still slightly concerned by the sizeable step up he’ll have to make to have any sort of impact in the final months of this season. Hopefully a long term solution to our #10 issue though.

Re: The Miguel Almiron Thread
Highly rated by a lot of South American football journalists. From what I’ve read he could be perfect, quick and great running with the ball to set up counter attacks. He could get some great ammunition into Rondon.
I'm the scumbag outlaw. You're the pillar of justice. Neither of us like looking at ourselves in the mirror. Do we have a deal?
Re: The Miguel Almiron Thread
in our current setup he'd unseat Atsu, right? How long is that going to take?

Re: The Miguel Almiron Thread
I wonder if the system would change with his signing, and the other potential ones rumoured today. If Barecca comes in as well that would allow Ritchie to move back to right midfield. If we went back to a 4321, you could have:
Side picked based on potential signings, and current injuries. If using this 3/5 at the back system still, then I suppose you could go for:
Still a lot of big if's in there, but that's not terrible to look at, either or. The likes of Diame, Joselu, Lazaar knocking about as well.
Dubravka (Woodman)
Yedlin (Manquillo)- Lejune (Fernandez) - Lascelles (Schaer) - Barecca (Dummett)
Longstaff (Shelvey) - Samaris (Ki)
Ritchie (Murphy) - Almiron (Perez) - Kenedy (Atsu)
Rondon (Muto)
Yedlin (Manquillo)- Lejune (Fernandez) - Lascelles (Schaer) - Barecca (Dummett)
Longstaff (Shelvey) - Samaris (Ki)
Ritchie (Murphy) - Almiron (Perez) - Kenedy (Atsu)
Rondon (Muto)

Re: The Miguel Almiron Thread
It will be today's team with Almiron in for Atsu
Re: The Miguel Almiron Thread
Doesn't look bad at all. Will have some decent options to coming of the bench. Hayden will go on loan if Samaris comes and maybe Murphy if we get a new attacker. With everyone fit and firing will be interesting to see Samaris, Longstaff, Ki, Shevely and Diame battling it out for the starting CM spots. Alternatively this formation could work if we want to play ''wing-less'' with the full-backs providing the width.CIH wrote: ↑Tue Jan 29, 2019 11:11 pmI wonder if the system would change with his signing, and the other potential ones rumoured today. Barecca won't be starting, shirley. Very much get the feeling he's backup.

Re: The Miguel Almiron Thread
It's like a 15 hour journey I think and there doesn't seem to be direct flights. A few UK airports were closed this morning because of the snow. I'm still excited.

Like he'd be able to shift Dummett.

Re: The Miguel Almiron Thread
It's only that much depending on transfers I think. Might be a bit less if flying private. Also I think either Heathrow or Gatwick had delays this morning. I forget. I'm not unduly concerned anyway. If we haven't heard anything by this evening I'd be panicking.
