Swings and roundabouts, everyone has equally tough games against the top 6 before the end of the season. We're just getting ours out of the way early.

Still too early to tell in my opinion. With 10 games to go we'll have a roundabout know how of who are in the mix. Just need to get City and Spurs out the way. Even a point from those two would be good. But hey, this is football, anything can happen!

Yep, nobody would have thought that Leicester would take 6 points from Chelsea and Man C before Christmas. We'll probably win games that we're expected to lose and lose games that we're expected to win.

I think under any other manager I'd agree with that, but with the way Rafa normally sets up against the "big" teams (anyone above 15th usually) those unexpected results really don't happen. It's a shame, because on the odd occasion we've not done the 5 at the back we got results against big sides at home at the back end end of last season, I just wish he'd do it more often. Conversely we maybe don't lose the unexpected games, but we do draw far too often. Basic maths says it's better to at least attempt to get 3 points in all games rather than settling for 1 more than a loss.

This.

Last season, if I remember correctly, we took 10 points from games against the top 6 clubs but there is no way that is going to happen this season so we must make sure we beat the teams around us.

True, but I don’t recall us setting up that offensively against the top teams in the second half of last season. We comfortably beat Chelsea as they were awful and clearly couldn’t be bothered, 1-0 v Man U, can’t remember what we beat Arsenal by at SJP.

Came from behind to win, another thing we haven't done this season, 2-1.

This season is so depressing in so many ways! <neg>

Just looking at games left for the dead men

I would conservatively put NUFC on 37 points - could be a lot more

Huddersfield gone Obv.

Fulham are down - just checked their fixtures. Doubt they will get even close to 30 pts

That leaves Cardiff - Just checked their fixtures. With a following wind they might manage 3 wins and 2 draws - 33 Pts

We are going to comfortably safe I would say

So we average less than a point a game :-
25 games - 24 point

With 13 games remaining (following the same trend ) would put us around 36-37 points. Is it just me that’s not very confident ?

I mean Fulham and Huddersfield will struggle to get more than 33 so all we have to do is be less s*** than anyone of Cardiff, Southampton or Burnley. I have faith

If Almiron can produce similar to what he did at Atlanta I think we'll pick up a few more wins.

As i've said a few times already Fulham and Huddersfield are already down as Speedo says I can't see them getting more then 33 points, so that leaves Cardiff, Southampton, Burnley and ourselves for the last spot which I realistically think will be Cardiff despite them beating Bournemouth at the weekend I can't see them picking up the necessary points to over take us for the long term. I even think that win at the weekend was very lucky.

Southampton appear to be losing the new manager rush too not strengthening in the window may come back to haunt them I feel.
I'll Hazard a guess

Also one thing I have just noticed.

Was the game against Wolves rescheduled to be played earlier as I definitely remember when I looked up remaining fixtures it was 3rd last game

Code: Select all

15	Newcastle United	38	8	12	18	36
16	Cardiff City 38	9	7	22	34
17	Southampton FC 38	5	17	16	32
18	Burnley FC 38	7	10	21	31
19	Fulham FC 38	5	13	20	28
20	Huddersfield Town	38	4	9	25	21
Newcastle - 12 pts / 13 games
Cardiff - 12 pts / 13 games
Southampton - 8 pts / 13 games
Burnley - 7 pts / 13 games
Fulham - 9 pts / 13 games
Huddersfield - 10 pts / 13 games

BUT THERE'S ALWAYS 1 TEAM THAT HAS A SURGE.

I wondered why you had it 3rd last game as it always followed the Spurs game.

Something else you got wrong!! <whistle>
