Match day thread - Bournemouth V Toon

Post by Toondes » Fri Mar 15, 2019 6:48 pm

Bournemouth (a)

Newcastle return to action on Saturday when they make their longest away trip of the season, facing the Cherries at the Vitality Stadium.

It's an old-fashioned 3pm kick-off.

NUFC: Sean Longstaff and Jamaal Lascelles are both missing due to injury, but Ciaran Clark and Federico Fernandez return to the squad.

Having reached 10 yellow cards, Fabian Schar begins a two match suspension that makes him unavailable for this game and the visit to Arsenal.

Matt Ritchie is also just one caution away from suffering the same fate.

Coral match betting is online here

On home turf so far this season, Bournemouth have won seven (Cardiff, Leicester, Palace, Huddersfield, Brighton, West Ham, Chelsea), drawn four (Everton, Southampton, Watford, Wolves) and lost four (Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City).

I worry this is going to be similar to the West Ham game, in so much that it's a game where we have every chance of getting something, but I fear we just won't turn up. 2-0 loss.
There is no sin except stupidity.

The lineup and formation isn't obvious for once. I hope we go for a 4231 with Dummett at LB and wouldn't mind seeing us return to the Shelvey - Diame as the midfield pairing

With Rafa's comments about Lascelles being out but Clark coming back to fitness, I'd expect us to stick with the 3/5 at the back formation. Either Clark or Fernandez can come in for Lascelles in that back three. I'm looking forward to this game, it could go either way. It's not a team we should expect to lose to, or expect to beat really. Be a good battle, like the Burnley game I think. Cautiously optimistic, 2-1 Toon.

Got to be Fernandez coming in if Lascelles is out.

Looks like we are going to a 442, fair play. I forgot Schar was suspended.Good to see Muto on the bench, no Joselu.

That could still be 5 at the back, or a 4231 (very much doubt it's a 442 though)

I’d imagine it’s 5 switching to 4 depending on how the game goes. Decent line-up

Yeah to be fair I don't think it'd be 442, it's just a generalisation. Be something fluid, most likely a 451 snapping into a 433 when need be. What I meant overall is that it'll be a flat back four. Although there's enough versatility to allow to switch to a back three if need be, which I think is exactly what Benitez wants.
