Re: Perez Leaving
Apparently he was leaving even if Benitez stayed. 15 mills a but low, had a great season just starting to mature.
On it's own losing him isn't a disaster but with all the other s*** it is.

No. Not concerned too much about him going, it’s the manner it’s happening. Apart from the second half of this season, he’s been bang average for the five (?) years he’s been here.
As I’ve said, I’m not renewing my tickets till Ashley goes. Hopefully the next couple of weeks.

Re: Perez Leaving
Bang average feels an enormous stretch given our team has been either woeful or incredibly defensive through that entire period. And regardless of that it leaves us even shorter of attacking players.

This. Thanks for the memories Ayoze!TJR wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2019 7:37 pmAgree with what you've said. He's hit and miss but on his day he's brilliant. £15m is very low in my opinion. If you've got him for that in this market, you've done extremely well.
He's the epitome of a confidence player. Wjen the team is playing well he's confident and on another level. When things aren't going well he's not really in the game.
He's a very clever player and needs players on his wavelength. Almiron and Rondon sometimes were but we never really had anyone else who was so often he'd try clever flicks etc but there would be nobody to read them.
I wish him almost the best. As least you seem to be a club with a bit of ambition to love forwards. Perez in a team with Maddison and Tielmens (if yous get him permanently) will be a good side to watch. Also he'd definitely suit a Brendan Rodgers style system so would be a good buy for yous.

Re: Perez Leaving
Perez is valued at 20m euro on transfermarket. Mitro was valued at 15m before we sold him for 22+. Not exactly a good measuring stick for anything really, but interesting enough. I think 15m is a bit low.

Re: Perez Leaving
Danny Ings was £20m and has scored 12 goals in 4 seasons. And he's a year older than Perez. Wouldn't accept anything under £25m.

£30m according to Miles Starforth. Decent money if true (not that we’ll reinvest it...)

Being reported by everyone now. We are pretty much f***ed, I have zero confidence in any of the supposed £30m getting reinvested.

Re: Perez Leaving
Out of curiosity does this lower the value of the club by 30 mil for any potential takeover? Not that it's going to happen anyway
Re: Perez Leaving
and so the purge goes on. This tweet from Andrew sums it up for me
25 goals gone. No proven PL scorers. No manager. Transfer window has been open for a month plus and we haven't signed anyone, and the end of that streak appears to be nowhere in sight.
Oh, and no clarity on whether Ashley will sell anytime soon.
Awful.

£30m for Perez
Almiron will be taking his place then .
Also , I thought he wanted to leave to go back to Spain ? Not sure 100 miles south of Newcastle to the East Midlands counts.

£30m.........in this case, thanks very much.
However, Longstaff next ?
As if we didn't know, there's a definite trend emerging here

Re: Perez Leaving
Apparently Perez had a release clause that was triggered. Sort of an open secret he wanted to move on this summer anyway. The only issue with the sale for my money is that the money won't be reinvested in the playing staff.
Might be a good down payment for Argos.

I think 30 million is a fantastic price, unfortunately, we will never see the money again. Gayle and Joselu up front next season it is.

Re: Perez Leaving
I’m a bit surprised about his lack of ambition tbh. He’s been heavily linked with a move to Spain and Italy. But Leicester?
£30m is a good bit of business as long as it’s put back into the club. Or it could be Ashley’s final kick in the bollocks for us.
Christ, I wish he would sell up to someone with at least a little bit of ambition.
