Kit Thread 19/20
Re: Kit Thread 19/20
I like the away kit. Shame we always have to have either a gambling website or a sleazy short term lending companies name plastered all over it.
I refuse to wear a shirt that advertises these sort of things.

If it makes you feel better there's some crypto currency con on the sleeve now.
Re: Kit Thread 19/20
Better than the home kit.
It’s the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city.

Re: Kit Thread 19/20
I think there was a good article the other day quantifying how much betting companies dominate football shirt sponsorship in the world now, can't remember who counted them up though. But yeah, it's definitely a shame that's the industry that's taken over and willing to pay more than every other business (I guess it was inevitable with them actually being tied to sports).
Re: Kit Thread 19/20
It's not quite every other business, the top 4-6 have avoided it, but if you look at the bottom half of the league it's horrific.

Re: Kit Thread 19/20
Sorry, I may have said that wrong. But what I simply meant is that you have tens of betting companies overwhelming, and then a couple airlines, a couple automobile companies, tire companies, etc. But generally speaking it's one industry taking up a huge percentage of sponsorships, and then the remainder are spread pretty evenly across every other industry.
Re: Kit Thread 19/20
No the point I was making was that proper companies are willing to pay big money to the big clubs, with the rest of us begging for scraps from practically unheard of betting companies. Has anyone actually placed a bet with anyone who sponsors a Premier League club.
See this link for how the Premier League and Championship look these days, it's ridiculous. I think there's only Brighton and Leicester outside the top 6.

Re: Kit Thread 19/20
Gotcha. Yeah, I guess those huge companies only deem the biggest clubs as receiving the exposure that's worth it to them to overbid everyone else. Plus, those big clubs are also owned by big companies/people, who then ensure it projects their interests (e.g. Etihad Air and Man City), although there's less of that than I thought (e.g. PSG has changed from Emirates to Accor Group, who's HQ'd in Paris).Colly wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2019 7:56 pmNo the point I was making was that proper companies are willing to pay big money to the big clubs, with the rest of us begging for scraps from practically unheard of betting companies. Re: Kit Thread 19/20
I'm happy with both the away and third kits. I've appreciated the return to 90s bright colours and patterns across football this year.
Re: Kit Thread 19/20
Black sponsor is a nice touch (still a crappy sponsor but that battle is long lost)
I had the first custom w***

Re: Kit Thread 19/20
That reminds me, I saw the home kit ranked low on a kit ranking list, with the justification that the sponsor wasn't black and white. Now I know Northern Rock managed to keep their's white by using a huge black block, but I think it's reasonably unfair to suggest a sponsor applies black and white font atop black and white stripes.
Agreed though, I'm glad it's black on orange here, and generally they've been good to use a single complementary colour on the away/third kits, e.g. gold on hoops last season.
Re: Kit Thread 19/20
Reckon we'll probably wear that more than the away given we've gone for the daft really dark away kit again.
Re: Kit Thread 19/20
too much of a Wolves look to my liking, the second and third kits from last season were lovely

Am I having de ja vu? Didn't some other club do that sort of design
Re: Kit Thread 19/20
It's the glass bit of the Leazes/Milburn roof, and yep Chelsea have done similar on their home kit.

Re: Kit Thread 19/20
Yeah, I think a few clubs have kits inspired by their stadium. Although I've found a few of them to be pretty generic, wherein this pattern clearly is taken straight from the roof.
