Re: Pavel's eBar
Stroke of luck today, picked up a 54 plate Audi A3 3.2L Quattro that a mate of my stepdads was selling. Done 90,000 but well looked after and recently had new tyres, callipers, shocks, sparks etc. Took it on a test drive and it shifts. All in with insurance and tax it’s set me back £3500 so not bad really seen as I had been looking at cars that were £5-6k before tax and insurance.

Got my decree absolute today. I know it probably sounds stupid, but I'm happy! Its completely closed the door on the last 4 months, and as far as I was concerned everything was finished back in September when we separated, this rubber stamps it.

I get that its convenient and quick, but private helicopters (and to a lesser extent private jets) are so dangerous compared to other forms of transport, no way I'm doing that regularly

So jets first. Less regulated for sure. Also commercial airplanes are huge huge projects with high safety barriers, and released models get tested with loads of flights. (this is why 737max is so shocking). Smaller planes this is less true.
Also big airlines know they will fail if safety is bad, but there's lots of these small jet operating companies that can lease planes and set up without much capital. So some are a big tight fisted or lazy on safety. And licence for small planes less hard to get than airliner.
For helicopters the same is true but also they are just inherently less stable in the air and susceptible to bad weather and wind.

Re: Pavel's eBar
I managed to convince my wife to take a helicopter on Saturday. She hated it and spent the entire time worrying. Then Sunday we woke up to the Kobe news, and she says she's never getting on one again.
