Was listening to a Football Ramble podcast and they made a good point. The PL want their decision to be final and as legally strong as possible. So they will want to make public they've considered all angles (Human rights & piracy mainly).
This could be why its taking so long, either way they are considering their legal defence whilst working remotely.
This statement looks like that "yes we'll consider it and if we allow the takeover anyway we are somewhat covered"

100%. It's a pretty empty gesture.
In reality they'll be leveraging the takeover to get KSA's house in order and sort out their piracy issues.

July 17th. I have no reason for this to happen, I have no inside knowledge or otherwise. I don't even have a gut feeling. But I reckon it'll be signed, sealed and delivered b y the 17th of July. Bookmark this, arse in fenwicks, whatever else. I'll definitely commit to it, I promise.

Why do you think it’s taking them so long to reject it?

And that's why I think they'll eventually accept it. Just need to pretend they've done as much due diligence and negotiating as possible first - for PR sake.

It would seem at this point, whatever the decision it will go to court, probably CAS

Even though I am confident it'll eventually happen, I will say now that if it gets rejected, I won't be treating it like some conspiracy against Newcastle, as if there's some personal grudge against us. That kind of petty everyone-is-out-to-get-us attitude some supporters carry (I don't really see it here though) has always felt a bit self-centred. If it happens, it'll be because too many other governments like UAE and Qatar got into the sport first, making it more complicated for every one that tries to enter afterwards. Plus, even compared to the others, there's a legitimate argument to be made that KSA is dangerously more influential than any of the other middle-eastern kingdoms - with more military and economic tentacles connected to dodgy domestic and international issues.

Having said that, the more time passes, the more I've come to accept that it's just something we'd have to deal with as fans, and hope the club isn't used heavily as a promotional tool.

Should it not go through, I do hope the rumours of other interested parties weren't all smoke and mirrors, and someone else will step in to take advantage of the added profile we've had lately.
