Match day thread _ Watford v NUFC

Post by Toondes » Sat Jul 11, 2020 9:38 am

Watford (a)

The Magpies travel to Vicarage Road today to face Nigel Pearson's side in a 12.30pm kick-off.

This will be our tenth top-flight visit to that venue and we're yet to win any of them (five draws, four losses).

Live coverage is on Amazon Prime, which requires an Amazon account logon in order to access. Unlike the games shown by them before Christmas though, a Prime pay subscription is not required in order to view.

Our game will be available online here

The Hornets are one of the sides who are continuing to produce paper match programmes and they can be ordered online here.

Team: Jamaal Lascelles, Miguel Almiron and Allan Saint-Maximin could all return to the starting XI.

However Isaac Hayden and Sean Longstaff aren't expected to play again this season after suffering hamstring injuries. Andy Carroll reportedly has a groin strain and Emil Krafth an unspecified issue.

Ciaran Clark and Florian Lejeune remain sidelined, but the latter could return in the coming games.

WFC: Former Magpie Daryl Janmaat hasn't featured since November with a knee problem. Gerard Deulofeu and Isaac Success are also out due to injury.

The Hornets were in home action against Norwich City on Tuesday, winning 2-1 to boost their hopes of finishing outside the bottom three.

At Vicarage Road in the PL this season, Watford have won five times, lost six and drawn the other half dozen.

Since the installation of Nigel Pearson in early December though, they've lost on home territory just twice in ten games.

Coral price a home win at 4/5, a Magpie success at 15/4 and the draw at 5/2.

Referee: Craig Pawson - a quick return for the Yorkshire-based whistler, who was in charge of Sunday's 2-2 home draw with West Ham.

VAR: Stuart Attwell

I think Schar is a decent DM tbh but he didn't have a good game at City.. let's see how it goes. This line-up looks better than Weds and we got Miggy / ASM back with Gayle upfront.. attacking potency <diva> <awe>

Watford to win 3-1. Welbeck brace and Deeney header. Joelinton with a consolation for us.

Shelvey having a good game is a barometer for the opposite being bad. He's great when given space and does nowt when closed down
