Why don’t these Reuben brothers just buy it themselves, they’ve got enough money...

Kieth Downie said that nobody at Newcastle knew that this was going to happen.
I wonder who has the pleasure of telling Mike that he still owns Newcastle United.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see something like this. SA then setting up sponsorships with an agreement in place for them to buy into the club. Would be a good way to f*** off the premier league and f*** off FFPBodacious Benny wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 3:26 pmWhy don’t these Reuben brothers just buy it themselves, they’ve got enough money...

I guess you can close this thread now
Re: Toon Takeover Thread - PIF Pull Out
Maybe Ashley could try that thing people have been doing when they've got an expensive house they can't sell at the price they want - raffle it off with the total ticket value over their asking price and pretend it's all for charity.
Re: Toon Takeover Thread
I'm happy this has fallen through.
However, if it is indeed the case that the PL sat on their hands with this being their ultimate intention, it just goes to show how rotten to the core this league is. At the risk of sounding clichéd, if this was Manchester United it would have been a totally different story. We're not one of the 'big brands' of this league, which means we can be put in a draw and ignored until the dust settles.
In any case, I'm still not gonna be attending matches whilst Ashley is in charge. I just hope one day I will feel comfortable returning under new ownership, but I ain't counting on it.

I think we've got an Ellis Short style season to look forward to now. Free transfers and loans .The Deluded Pablo Diego Jose Francisco wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 3:31 pmKieth Downie said that nobody at Newcastle knew that this was going to happen.

Oh don't get me wrong, I've absolutely no doubt they were going to have more ambition than Ashley, and it was only reasonable for fans to assume that. But those that were presuming Mbappe was on the way were queued up for disappointment regardless of the deal falling through.Sir Bobby wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 3:18 pmBad signal deleted my reply but basically I don’t think the fans are to blame based on precedent, funds available from PIF, and what media were saying. Even if it fell short of people’s ideas, it would still be ahead of our current owner (and likely future owners)Remember Colo wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 3:12 pm
Sure, they all deserve blame too, but there are plenty of fans that got way ahead of themselves in assuming how much money the Saudis were going to plow into the club, and how successful they were going to be in attracting world class players and potentially winning trophies - despite never hearing a word from anyone among the prospective owners. And sure, I think we all dreamed a little, but for the years to come I won't waste my time wondering what if and presuming there'd have been miracles.

Apparently other premier league clubs opposition was a big factor in the delays.

Regardless of people’s views, the fact the PL took so long and did nothing is an embarrassment.

"PIF Pull Out"
Re: Toon Takeover Thread - PIF Pull Out
Going back to how being part of a football 'club' is a different kettle of fish to times long gone, isn't it crazy how throughout this whole process we've barely heard a peep from the actual club? Even after this news, the next tweet from the official account will probably be about Barry Venison's new charity cake baking initiative. Some people like to spout B.S. about the value clubs place in fans as investors, so you'd think it would be in an investor's interest to have some inkling into who will be running their club the following season.
We're entitled to nothing.

Re: Toon Takeover Thread - PIF Pull Out
Few bits coming out from Staveley, apparently the Premier League was basically saying the state of SA had to go through the O&D, they basically saw the government as a Director who had to pass the test. This became almost impossible as they were not involved in the deal but PL made them a part of it.
Also some hints PL were refusing to give them an answer on the process or the timeline despite them previously assuring them it would not be a long drawn out process.
