Re: The Callum Wilson Thread
It's a solid signing, but not one that I'm about to s*** myself with excitement over. He's a decent player, but hardly prolific and has done his ACL in both knees so our training facilities will have a good crack at doing them both again.
In terms of PL goalscoring rate, he's on par with Cisse and slightly ahead of Gayle.

I can't remember the time I was this excited about a signing. He's exactly what we need and he could get a hat full of goals with the pace and creativity we have going forward. Buzzing for this. Proper buzzing.

Solid signing in a position we actually need. Could be great if we get Fraser and they reignite the form from a few seasons ago and they gel with ASM/Almiron.
Another benefit of the signing is seeing the many salty Aston Villa fans coming out of the woodwork - "it's his loss for choosing NUFC" etc.

I've read this a few times in various places but it isn't confirmed
I'll Hazard a guess
Re: The Callum Wilson Thread
The Athletic are saying it, and they are usually reliable. Joelinton could switch to 34 (his old number at Hoffenheim).lassassinblanc wrote: ↑Mon Sep 07, 2020 12:16 pmI've read this a few times in various places but it isn't confirmed

Yeah i'm pretty happy with this signing, certainly an improvement on what we've got, so long as he stays fit, which as biggeordiedave says is a potential concern. But fingers crossed and all that.
Also happy with Fraser, Lewis and Holding, so if those come off as well will be an unexpectedly good window.

For all the people saying we needed attackers who've scored goals in the PL, this was about as good as it could get. So if they couldn't be happy with CW, not sure what they'd have wanted/expected. Very pleased with the work in the past week!

Re: The Callum Wilson Thread
Not sure why Wilson would get 9, seems harsh on Joelinton and he wore 13 at Bournemouth.

Re: The Callum Wilson Thread
I wouldn’t say it’s harsh on Joelinton considering he only got 2(?) PL goals and also, he’d probably admit himself that he’s not a number 9 in any way.

Re: The Callum Wilson Thread
Yeah Joelinton doesn't deserve the 9 shirt. Obviously he shouldn't have got it in the first place but taking it off him might ease some of the pressure on him and allow him to relax more.
When you're wearing the 9 shirt you're expected to and have to score goals. Joelinton doesn't do that. Hopefully Wilson will.

I really hope players don't get too preoccupied about shirt numbers. If gaining or losing a number changes your performance, probably aren't cut out to be a first choice PL striker (which Joe likely isn't regardless of whether it shook him).

Re: The Callum Wilson Thread
Yeah I'd guess that most aren't that bothered. Think it's more of an old school thing (or fan thing) being bothered about having a certain shirt number for the most part.Remember Colo wrote: ↑Mon Sep 07, 2020 9:40 pmI really hope players don't get too preoccupied about shirt numbers. Do any of you think he will make double digits this season?
