I wonder how good his English is? Isn't one of the reasons Mbemba never got a look in under Rafa because he didn't speak English so couldn't interpret or respond to tactical changes etc.?lassassinblanc wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 11:07 amHe was one i was fairly excited about when we signed as he looked dangerous for Mainz.
As posters above said never really hit the ground for us, I think at the start the language thing really affected him, as Rafa is a stickler for players understanding the system so he probably felt he wasn't up to speed with what he wanted for him, of course the form of Perez,Miggy and Rondon probably didn't help either.
With Bruce again it might have just been the case of Joelinton getting up to speed more with what Bruce wanted and showing more in training.
Similar to Lejuene i hope he goes out and shows what he is capable of and gives food for thought next season

Yedlin on his way back to MLS?
Because of MLS rules Cincinnati would have first option as he's an American international , not sure of exact rule but something to do with the team who finished bottom the season beforehand having first option/refusal on US internationals who are to be transferred to the MLS. basically the MLS subsidise the fee for them to help them grow.

Sounds a bit complicated but good idea to try and keep the league more balanced and competitive.lassassinblanc wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 3:15 pmYedlin on his way back to MLS?

Suppose if Bruce thinks Manquillo, Ritchie and Krafth can all play RB/wing back then he's one who can get off the wage bill (maybe to help make space for a new face coming in...)

Didn't something similar happen with Altidore going to Toronto? I vaguely remember him heading back to a different MLS franchise but the league stepped in and he went to Toronto instead, with Sunderland getting Defoe for their troubles. Not a bad deal for them really.lassassinblanc wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 3:15 pmYedlin on his way back to MLS?

As for Yedlin, we have three RB's, and Krafth is being deployed in the centre when needed, so Yedlin seems the most likely to go. Plus reports of him being unsettled lately. MLS sounds like the right destination, although wouldn't it be complicated by the designated players rule?

Yeah each team can have a max of 3 Designated Players, Cincinnati do have those 3 filled though which would complicate the matter if his wages were higher than their current top earners/ % of the squad in relation to the rest of the team.CIH wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 3:27 pmDidn't something similar happen with Altidore going to Toronto? As said I'm not an expert in MLS rules and they do confuse me but he could say for example earn 20k a week and still be considered a Senior Contract and not a DP player.

Well not like me to be wrong about a transfer
I fully expected it to be Barco as he had a falling out with Stephen Glass and he's been offered out to a few clubs. Hence I thought it was him when I seen about it being a low fee as atlanta want rid of him.
Thought they may also have been some movement for Yedlin in the other direction as part of the deal.

All I know from Barco is from FM. Based on that (I know) would be a solid signing

Apparently we have a french player on trial at the minute with a terrible attitude. Sounds like that will work a treat.

I was at the Doncaster friendly when Bassong was playing as a trialist. He was probably our best player and we sang about him for most of the match even though nobody knew his name .
Kindly deeds done for free!

From Skysports' transfer centre:
YEDLIN CLOSE TO NEWCASTLE EXIT
Newcastle’s DeAndre Yedlin is close to joining Besiktas.
He has a year left of his contract on Tyneside but talks are said to be over a free transfer.
I'm surprised we aren't after a fee, but it does make sense with us having three right backs and his contract running down. Seen a link today to Callum Chambers, who can cover RB and CB as well.

He must be taking the long route home.
