If you want to know why teams stopped playing 4-4-2, this is it

Lamptey seems a class signing. Rapid for a midget.

Re: Brighton (H) - match thread
Thought ASM was poor last week tbf and really looked half arsed today
Re: Brighton (H) - match thread
This is what annoys me and shows maybe why Bruce has never managed ''top'' team aka top 6 and above as he isn't good enough of a manager to see his copy and paste tactics of ''hoof to Carroll, hope someone gets a knowdown'' or ''Give it to ASM to work his magic'' simply isn't gonna work all the time. Brighton look superior to us.. yes BRIGHTON they look more compact, organised, good on the ball and in possession so comfortable. There formation is so fluid and suited for there players.. Potter just the better manager with a more expansive style of play, he's really doing a great job at Brighton!Beatski wrote: ↑Sun Sep 20, 2020 1:28 pmThe formation probably isn't doing him any favours either mindseatonsluicetoon wrote: ↑Sun Sep 20, 2020 1:19 pmInteresting to see how badly ASM copes when faced with someone who can match/beat him for pace. Last thing we want to see is him not pulling his weight.
Sounds like we need to switch to a 4231 and get someone on Lamprey (Carroll off for Almiron/Ritchie)
Bruce said last week that the formation was specifically to counter West Ham's physicality, so why has he just gone with the same again instead of selecting the team best suited for playing against Brighton?
There RB has tremendous speed and looks too good for Brighton.. why would Chelsea sell him? He really does look like a prospect. Wouldn't mind him here.. looks like a rich mans' Yeds with the pace to match but also the end product and crossing.

Re: Brighton (H) - match thread
Get Carroll and Shelvey off for Ritchie/Longstaff and Almiron here. Need mobility and energy going forwards and back, we have zero right now. Hendrick and Hayden at CM, 4-2-3-1.
I had the first custom w***

Re: Brighton (H) - match thread
Shelvey needs binning. ASM not up for it. Out of ideas and formation not working. Joy of joys
Re: Brighton (H) - match thread
Tbf I believe he said it was to combat their height. I’m guessing he left Carroll in to combat their CBs height at corners, whilst neglecting tactics relating to the fact that teams score in ways that aren’t set pieces.Beatski wrote: ↑Sun Sep 20, 2020 1:28 pmThe formation probably isn't doing him any favours either mindseatonsluicetoon wrote: ↑Sun Sep 20, 2020 1:19 pmInteresting to see how badly ASM copes when faced with someone who can match/beat him for pace.
