EFL CUP - 22/23DECEMBER 2020
I don't think we all need to make a note in our diaries but the final of the EFL Cup will now take place on the 25 April 2021 with the objective of having as many supporters in attendance as possible.
All matches are being shown on Sky. Results must be achieved on the night, via penalties if the scores are level after 90 minutes (no extra time). Winners will secure a place in the one-legged semi-finals on 5 or 6 January 2021 with the first team drawn having home advantage.
Tuesday, 22 December
17:30 Brentford 1-0 NEWCASTLE UNITED
20:00 Arsenal 1-4 Manchester City
Wednesday, 23 December
17:30 Stoke City 1-3 Tottenham Hotspur
20:00 Everton 0-2 Manchester United

Glad that’s is a one-legged SF, always thought it was ridiculous having them played over 2 legs due to a congested calendar at the best of times. Also favours the big clubs if it’s over 2 legs who you’d generally back to knock out a “smaller” club even if they slipped up in the first leg.

Bloody hell, why are the semis in early January if the final isn't until the end of April? I know Europe will start again soon but later in the season a chunk of the teams remaining will be out of a couple of competitions.

The final was originally scheduled for February and was only changed to April yesterday.

I know, but I can't see a logical reason why they couldn't change the semis too rather than having them crammed in with a busy xmas fixture list and the 3rd round of the FA Cup.

As it stands it’ll be Man C, Spurs and Everton/Man U as the other three semifinal teams so we’d have been knocked out anyway, Bruce doing well to save the players from playing an unnecessary game
