Re: NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (January 2021)
I think we'll probably land one on loan. Can't really complain about not having more activity given the situation, there's hardly been any transfer moves this window other than a few loans here and there.
I can definitely understand why Gueye has set his sights a bit higher than us. Not really what we need at all so not too fussed on that one.
Harvey Elliot is on loan at Blackburn from Liverpool, he's only 17 but already got 4 goals and 8 assists in the Championship this season in 21 games which is some return for a rookie. If he can carry that on could be an interesting one to look at for next season perhaps.

Wouldn't mind Willock at all, 3 goals in 5 EL matches this season.

Really don’t see the point in bringing in fringe/youth players from other PL teams. I can’t see them improving the squad and it will only limit the playing time of the Longstaffs and Anderson.

I think the players we are linked with are improvements and I wouldn't be surprised to see options to buy. The Longstaff's just aren't ready yet and in my opinion both need to prove themselves out on loan before being allowed back near the first team.

Sean seems to have regressed massively since he first broke into the team, he's had chances this season but looked poor (albeit playing in a team who were performing very badly at the time). Matty I think did well when he got 2-3 games, but in Bruce style he's since been bombed out of the team despite not doing anything wrong. I do think that loan moves and regular first team football for half a season will benefit them both massively.
Anderson I'd like to see get a few more minutes, his cameo v Arsenal in the cup looked good but obviously too early to judge.
Willock's Wiki has been updated:
Joseph George Willock (born 20 August 1999) is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for English football club Newcastle. He is one of the biggest talents in the world, Newcastle fans can't believe he's decided to join them on loan.

Re: NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (January 2021)
From what I've seen Willock is a improvement on the Longstaffs & currently better than Anderson. He's appeared regularly over the last few years in the Europa League & has looked good. He was involved in nearly 30 games last year with Arsenal (8 starts & 21 coming of the bench), he's only 21, highly rated by Arsenal coaches & fans, box-to-box, quick, energetic, can be a goal threat & technically gifted (close control, dribbling, passing range, vision, creativity).. With Partly coming in this season it's been harder for him to start as him & Xhaka are first choice plus Emile Smith's form hasn't helped he needs to go away to get games & he's exactly what we need in the middle. A driving force to link defense with attack, provide a goal threat, pace, skill & technical ability in the middle of the pitch. Who in our midfield can currently do that? Apart from Shelvey but he's too one dimensional & inconsistent with his creative play. I'll love to have a option to buy but unlikely as Arsenal see him being a regular in the future..

Confirmation that Willock is close to signing on loan.

Just to point out Willock would qualify as an U21 player so we'd still have a space in the 25 man squad.
I'll Hazard a guess

This is great news. From what I've read/heard he's no star and is unlikely to make the cut at Arsenal but the club are insistent that Maitland-Niles gets loaned as a full-back not a CM. For me, for 6 months to bring another body in who presumably is at a decent level and offers more pace in the middle of the park (as well as pacy cover for Miggy at AM) and doesn't cost us a squad place is a no brainer. Get him in then go get Choudhury.lassassinblanc wrote: ↑Mon Feb 01, 2021 12:48 pmJust to point out Willock would qualify as an U21 player so we'd still have a space in the 25 man squad.

A tosser because he wants to stay and fight for his place?Don Sholeone wrote: ↑Mon Feb 01, 2021 11:14 amApparently Matty Longstaff doesn't want to go out on loan . The lad just seems like a complete tosser to be honest. A loan away would be perfect for him, hes not playing for us and needs to develop before he can establish himself as a first team player. I honesty seen no good reason to reject a loan away.

And frustratingly Watford need a midfielder before they'll allow Chabaloh to go to Leicester which will allow Choudhury to join us. We should give them one of the Longstaff's on loan, let them develop and play games safe in the knowledge we've got them covered short term with Willock and Choudhury. But if they won't go then it doesn't work, annoyingly, and they will continue to rot on the bench at best.

A tosser because he tried holding us to ransom 6 months ago and now reports saying he refused to go out on loan. All points to him thinking he's bigger than he is imo.ALF wrote: ↑Mon Feb 01, 2021 1:20 pmA tosser because he wants to stay and fight for his place?Don Sholeone wrote: ↑Mon Feb 01, 2021 11:14 amApparently Matty Longstaff doesn't want to go out on loan . I wouldn't be surprised if he was sold a bill of goods to re-sign, likely that he'd get more opportunity at the club this season. But now he needs to accept he's not getting the necessary playing time to develop, otherwise he'll just join the line of other undersized local players who never made it with the senior squad.Don Sholeone wrote: ↑Mon Feb 01, 2021 2:08 pmA tosser because he tried holding us to ransom 6 months ago and now reports saying he refused to go out on loan. Why would the club meet his "ransom demands" only to ship him out on loan though? He's been one our bright sparks when he's actually played (not difficult in this midfield granted), if I were him I'd certainly be thinking I can get into this side rather than playing Championship football likely miles from home until summer.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with you, I don't blame him for not wanting to go. Without knowing what they said to convince him to stay last summer, we've played way too poorly this season for him not to think he has something to offer. That said, clearly the coaches in charge aren't looking to him often enough.Colly wrote: ↑Mon Feb 01, 2021 2:29 pmWhy would the club meet his "ransom demands" only to ship him out on loan though? Matt Ritchie staying put, apparently we rejected the bid for him. I like him as a player and clearly he's a good influence on the squad as a whole, but he is 31 and and at best a second-choice... I do worry we're going to reject those long contracts for him and Shelvey. Sounds like we've only got a chance of getting someone in if Yedlin is confirmed to be away.

Apparently Maitland-Niles close to joining West Brom. That's a shame, I think he would've been the ideal signing. Other than that original tweet, not seen much about Ntcham rumours. Seems like Willock is our "top" target. Exciting.
