Read that and wondered what Xisco and Nacho were up to now.
Re: The Managerial Merry-Go-Round Thread
Xisco signed for Alcorcon yesterday. I follow him on Twitter for some reason.

Re: The Managerial Merry-Go-Round Thread
Yes, that's the reason Villas Boas left. I'm sure their poor performance and attacks from their ultras had nothing to do with it.
I'd note I'm making fun of GFFN, I'm sure he would give a more comprehensive explanation why his job was untenable there.

Jason Tindall been sacked by Bournemouth. I wonder if Jones has any regrets at leaving? If he has ambitions to manage again, he probably would've ended up caretaker there now.

Was always a risky appointment for them, they started the season well but seem to be slipping now.

Rafa appears to be favourite to replace him....given the reason Villa Boas asked to leave I can't see Rafa being happy to work like that.

Re: The Managerial Merry-Go-Round Thread
I'm not sure I posted in this thread, but him leaving there right now under the guise of anger they signed someone he didn't want felt like a "You can't fire me, I quit." situation. They're in complete disarray right now and he's had his feet to the fire for a while.lassassinblanc wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 2:59 pmRafa appears to be favourite to replace him....given the reason Villa Boas asked to leave I can't see Rafa being happy to work like that.

Wasn't he approached for the job before he left us and point blank turned them down?lassassinblanc wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 2:59 pmRafa appears to be favourite to replace him....given the reason Villa Boas asked to leave I can't see Rafa being happy to work like that.

Re: The Managerial Merry-Go-Round Thread
No surprise really as it was heavily rumoured that he'd have walked away from Marseille at the end of this season and was looking for a managerial role in Brazil or Japan.

AVB has dined out for years on an excellent record with Porto. He was poor at Chelsea and pretty run of the mill at Spurs. Zenit he did alright but they're a big team in a weak league, and at Marseille he was a bit hit and miss it seems.

Nigel Pearson also looks like he's going to Bristol City until the end of the season...so that's one we've missed out on who could come in on a short-term contract if Bruce got the boot.

Id rather it was given to Jones. He sounds like s motivator.Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Mon Feb 22, 2021 3:47 pmNigel Pearson also looks like he's going to Bristol City until the end of the season...so that's one we've missed out on who could come in on a short-term contract if Bruce got the boot.

Re: The Managerial Merry-Go-Round Thread
Only seeing this now. While I agree his early success with Porto perhaps made him a pin up, I think he was unlucky with Chelsea in that the older players weren't happy with his approach and didn't want to know (something which I think came back to nicely bite lampard in the arse).Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 4:19 pmAVB has dined out for years on an excellent record with Porto. I think he done a decent job at spurs too but felt he couldn't do more with them without more investment especially after Bales exit, yes he spent money and all the signings perhaps bar soldado all done well.
Having worked with someone who was on his backroom team at Zenit he definitely demands a lot from his players and perhaps over analyses things occasionally.
To give an example he once made the analysis team redo a match analysis briefing 4 times before he was happy with it,he then proceeded to add another 20-30 minutes of footage himself from other games.
