Huge accident. Might work out in Hamilton’s favour (ish) though, he can recover some points.

Re: The F1 Thread
Rubbish that it’s a rolling start though. Standing starts are so much more exciting.

Re: The F1 Thread
Driver of the day is going to be a tough one.
Verstappen drove a great race. Took the lead - nailed it and won.
Hamilton - lost the lead, gravel trap and benefitted from a restart.
Norris - made early call to get a pass and release him.
Going Norris though. Made a team request and delivered.

Yeah, thought Hamilton did well to recover to p2 it probably wouldn’t have happened without the restart.
50/50 between Verstappen and Norris for me.

Re: The F1 Thread
Norris on balance probably. But Verstappen was so in control, which always looks less impressive but in reality is a great feat in those conditions. Lewis did well to recover but it wouldn't have happened without the red flag whereas Norris and Max got where they were on pure pace. Hard to choose.
Its shaping up to be a classic season, apart from haas there are no teams you look at at being guaranteed no points. McLaren and Ferrari look quick behind Merc and Red Bull, Lewis and Max looks like a classic title duel.
What a start to the season.

Great race, thought Hammy showed his dominance again - had he got a better start or not lost it on the corner to end up in the gravel Im sure he would have won. He was on a charge when he went off, I think the Merc is slightly faster than the Red Bull. But great race by Norris and a real shame he got his qually lap deleted

Yeah I think that the Merc still has the edge on Red Bull, but on the evidence from the first two races they have closed the gap massively.Micky Quim wrote: ↑Mon Apr 19, 2021 7:29 amGreat race, thought Hammy showed his dominance again - had he got a better start or not lost it on the corner to end up in the gravel Im sure he would have won. I think Hamilton's start was fine, Verstappen just nailed his and wasn't afraid to take it to Hamilton in turn 1 which is what we want to see.
As much as Hamilton loves winning titles, he's also a racer and I bet he enjoys having a battle rather than scampering off and winning races by 20-30+ seconds every week.

3 sprint races then, I get why they are doing them from a revenue point of view, when the fans are back but they won't add much in terms of mixing it up, in fact they'll make it all a bit more predictable.
Looking forward to this weekend though, weather looks stable but still should be good fun.

I don’t mind the idea, qually I can take or leave in terms of watching it (I won’t make a point of tuning in but if I’m at home not doing anything I’ll switch on, tho Q1 is usually a bit pointless) but would be far more likely to watch a sprint race.

Im interested in seeing how the sprint races work - they might be a big success you never know. If they are s*** they will soon be dropped. Bring back refuelling fireballs for some real fun!

Lovely and risk free for them to do at a place in which the wall is usually 100 miles from the trackBodacious Benny wrote: ↑Wed May 05, 2021 1:06 pmhttps://www.bbc.com/sport/formula1/56993145

Pretty much the usual poor Spanish GP but a strategic masterclass from Merc and an amazing drive from Lewis, best team ever with the best driver.
Re: The F1 Thread
Yeah the strategy switch made it just about good enough to watch! Great win for Hamilton.Blue & Maroon wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 2:42 pmPretty much the usual poor Spanish GP but a strategic masterclass from Merc and an amazing drive from Lewis, best team ever with the best driver.
