Any English players we go after we will just get bent over a barrel with. It was bad enough before the Grealish transfer, now you have to factor in our ownerships wealth and the fact they all practically hate us now. People like Tarkowski would be our best bet when their contracts are running down.
More than happy with Tarkowski.

Sarr and even Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea on loan on permanent too.

Just bought Jules Kounde for 80m

Luis Diaz is today's name:

Diaz and ASM out wide would be a scary duo for some defences. Still our priority needs to be on defence and CM so hopefully we fix that in January.

Just getting in a left back that is better than Ritchie or Lewis would be a good start and shouldn't be difficult. Dummett returning would do but he seems to be perma-crocked.

Add Tarkowski a decent CM and a striker and it should be enough in my opinion so long as we have a halfway competent manager.

Agreed.

Re: Lewis, I think potential is there he just needs coached properly.
This and this. I think Lewis has potential to be a good to very good Premier league left-back. There's a reason Liverpool wanted him. He just needs to polish his defensive play (strength, positional play & footballing IQ) and decision making in attacking positions but he's got all the physical attributes to succeed (athletic, pacey, direct, good work rate/stamina & energetic).

A CB is a MUST. Tarkowski or someone similar to him alongside Lascelles should be a good enough partnership for us to survive this season. Next summer shift out the over 30s who are past it (Fernandez/Clark). Keep Dummet & Schar as back-ups. Sign someone to compete with Lascelles/partner Tarkowski. Loan Watts to a good Championship side.

A ball-playing, technical gifted, creative & mobile central midfielder is a priority too. Someone like Carlos Soler (Valencia), Thouameni (Monaco), Gravenberch (Ajax), Renato Sanches (Lille), Aaron Ramsey / Rabiot (Juventus), Ox(Liverpool), Barkeley (Everton) & Neves (Wolves) spring to mind.. only issue is with some of those names would they come us to in the middle of the season & give up European football to fight for relegation? <scratch>

A mobile, strong, athletic & powerful defensive midfielder is needed too.. Frank Kessie (AC Milan), Erik Pulgar (Florentina), Jens Cajuste (Danish club forgot there name), Kamara (Marsille), Zakaria (Borrusia Mochegladbech), Igor Zubeldia (Real Sociedad), Diawara (Roma) & Camara(Salzburg) spring to mind. The likes of Hendrick & Shelvey need to get sold ASAP. Sean Longstaff should be signed on a long-term contract & loaned out so he can regain some confidence maybe at a Rangers/Celtic or a newly promoted Prem team next season or a top Championship side.

A striker/second striker to back-up / partner Wilson is important too. Lacazette (Arsenal), Origi (Liverpool), Belotelli (Torino), Naul Maupay (Brighton), Vlahovic (Florentina), Luka Jovic (Real Madrid), Maxi Gomez (Valencia), Kasper Dolgberg (Nice) & Onuachu (Genk) all spring to mind. Sell Gayle. Loan / Sell Joelinton.

Of course I don't expect us to get all these signings straight away but at least we need a CB, a midfielder & a second striker/striker so 3 quality signings would do me.. with a possible 1 or 2 more in on loan with option to buy. Then in Summer we can proper rebuild with getting a LB (sell Ritchie or keep as back-up), another CB or two, another CM/DM and another striker depending on outgoings. In total we need a LOT of signings as this is in essence a Championship squad with a few Premier League quality players (Dubra, Lascelles, Willock, ASM & Wilson). So 3-5 signings in Jan to steady the ship and 4-5 signings quality signings in the summer would be ideal.

Despite a lack of goals I've found Joelintons play this season to be pretty decent, he's becoming quite dominant in the air, big problem is he usually gets surrounded by 3 players and loses the ball, everyone loses their s***, but a lot of the time nobody shows for the ball or moves into a passing lane to help him out. I think we will see a bigger improvement from him when we finally have a manager that focuses on these aspects of play.

I want Patrick Berg. Central midfielder who will probably cost no more than £5-6m.
23 year old, can run all day and also a better playmaker than any of the ones we have.

I'd selfishly like some Canadian content. Jonathan David in from Lille please?

We spent the whole Spurs game humping long balls at him on the left wing, with no one within 20 yards so all he could possibly do was try to bring it down with a defender challenging and make a run himself. Which he did on several occasions. While I'm not sure he'll be up to the standard we could have in two years I'm convinced a good coach could work out what to do with him.

Good point. Maybe a change of manager would do him the world of good.. he hasn't even reached his peak yet he's still only 25 so got a good couple years to show what he can do. One thing is for sure he's better suited out-wide or off the striker instead of playing as the main focal point as a CF. More a LM/LW/CAM/SS. <ok>

Seeing it reported in certain areas of the press that other Premier League clubs will refuse to do business with us in the January window in the hope we get relegated - we'll see, money often talks louder than words!

Haha a) clubs are greedy and b) players / agents have a lot of power.

Would Burnley hypothetically kiss goodbye to £15m for Tarkowski when he could walk away for free in summer…doubt it.

Exactly. And even if they did, there's still the rest of the world that would be willing to sell players

Also if they were to do that and it was obvious they were doing it they could be more legal ramifications, especially if they were selling to other clubs for less than our offers. They would be in very dodgy ground I think.
