The F1 Thread
Re: The F1 Thread
If it was the other way round Hamilton would have got a 5 sec penalty.
FIA seem to have a narrative that they're desperate to play out.

At some point the book has to be thrown at Verstappen.

Verstappen was incredibly lucky but the right outcome prevailed. As a neutral (I don’t support either, or anyone in F1 now, I just want great racing) I’m glad there was no punishment as hard (very) racing is great viewing.
Such a shame the season ends at bollocks circuits in the Middle East. Imagine the climax at proper circuits with passionate fans.

I do like Max, hes a great driver. But he plays very dirty under pressure. The weaving wasn't that bad really - running off the track was though. I just dont get the stewards. The 50k fine on Saturday was silly

Re: The F1 Thread
I don't think that is just hard racing, pushing someone off the track like that and not even going for the apex, he's clearly thought ''Lewis has one shot at getting past and I'll do anything to stop it.'' Clearly there was no risk of physical harm but in a sporting sense it's just not right, the track is the track.Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Sun Nov 14, 2021 10:27 pmVerstappen was incredibly lucky but the right outcome prevailed. True, but the FIA will have access to all kinds of info that we / broadcasters don't. I don't for one second believe all the conspiracy theorists who say the FIA purposefully targeting Mercedes and being lenient on Verstappen / Red Bull.
Funnily enough, that move actually did Merc / Hamilton a favour as look at how pumped they all are now and I think the pendulum has swing Hamilton's way.

Oh god yeah theres no conspiracy, it's just one of the problems with different stewards at different tracks every week.Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Mon Nov 15, 2021 11:03 amTrue, but the FIA will have access to all kinds of info that we / broadcasters don't. FIA correctly reject Mercs appeal against the Verstappen 'move' in Brazil.

Think I’m going Ham for the title now…red bull don’t seem to have any answer to him now.

With two what seem like straight line speed tracks it seems that way, without the changes at Abu Dhabi I'd say it would be impossible to call.Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Sun Nov 21, 2021 8:03 pmThink I’m going Ham for the title now…red bull don’t seem to have any answer to him now.
Very assured performance from Merc/Lewis today, unfortunate with Bottas who battled his way through, what were Rb doing with Perez though?

Re: The F1 Thread
Just watched a couple of sim laps of the Jeddah circuit. High speeds, hardly any run off areas. It's going to be carnage - and I'm not sure in a good way...

Sounds good to me, one of the worst things in modern F1 is tracks with massive run off areas IMO.

That was going to be a mighty lap by Max but he was always on the edge of disaster. Not sure if it was brave or stupid

Could have cost him the championship. Lewis has made mistakes too so a lot could still happen.Micky Quim wrote: ↑Sat Dec 04, 2021 6:19 pmThat was going to be a mighty lap by Max but he was always on the edge of disaster. Not sure if it was brave or stupid
