Re: The Message of Awe Thread
Having a busy DIY weekend and it's been great as the rest of the family headed off out to stay out of the way. I've caught up on the We Have Ways podcasts, drank a lot of beer, listened to music at a "loud"* volume and no one was able to moan at me!
Fixed a load of plaster cracks on walls and ceilings throughout the house yesterday and been painting this morning.
First coats are done and dusted so have a few hours to chill out before finishing off.
* MrsOT considers any noise as loud. I've heard birdsong louder than my music when she's at home.

Walked up Ben Nevis over the weekend, hard slog but amazing day with a great group of friends. We raised £5,500 for charity too so absolutely buzzing.

Re: The Message of Awe Thread
Hurricane Otis was bizzare.
It went from a standard tropical storm to a force 5 hurricane in 12 hours which is just unheard of. There is no way you can predict that and evacuate people out of harm's way in that short space of time.
If it isn't an eye opener to a changing climate then we're just doomed.

I went on a sexual harassment course at work yesterday. Think I'm going to be really good at it.
My problem is reconciling my gross behaviour with my net income.

This is 50% awe, 50% hate.
I live in a flat and my upstairs neighbours were crashing around upstairs last night until god knows what time.
To return the favour I went out this morning and left Born Slippy, Union of Sound blasting on repeat on the Bose sound bar right underneath their bedroom. The flat below me is empty so won't annoy anyone who doesn't deserve it.

MiniOT is doing driving theory test so brought her into central Croydon and wasting time having a wine in a pub nearby.
Hen night going on and I've been attacked by balloon cocks so frequently they sent me a free cocktail.
Shame I have to leave at 5:55 to meet up with miniOT

Wanted a nice blanket for winter as I got fed up of cranking the heating up, anyways I somehow came across a site that was selling alpaca wool ponchos and they had a sale on down from £100 to £30 so went for it, probably the best purchase ive made in many years, so f***ing comfortable and cosy, really nicely designed, also handmade and imported from Peru which makes a change for most other made in china crap. Its ridiculously hipster and i don't feel one ounce of shame

My ex-father in law used to keep alpaca on his chicken farm in Devon and sold the wool (for not much money!).
Apparently alpaca are very territorial and good at keeping fox's away, which turns out is an absolute crock of s***

A site called Gamboa fashion, if you do place an order just be aware the VAT on the item gets added at the checkout and not on the listed price, also there are a few decent voucher codes around to get extra off.Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Fri Jan 12, 2024 8:59 amNice! Re: The Message of Awe Thread
Off to first of many 50th birthdays this year.
Feels this is just taunting me.
We all agreed, old college mates, to meet up for all the 50ths and eventually wear the same "it feels weird to be same age as old people" t shirts as the days progress.
50 in April so guess I should finally act my age gracefully?
