Midfield looks so much more balanced.
That's the thing, as much as people saying we have one of the best midfield three on paper - the game isn't played on paper, it's played on grass. I forget who said that, but it always makes me chuckle.

Point being, Joelinton, Guimaraes and Tonali are all very excellent players in their own rights. But for whatever reason, someone with much more tactical knowledge of the game may know, they aren't clicking just yet as a three. The formation we play needs more cover between the defense and midfield I think, that pivot/enforcer to tick things along deep in the middle.

If we were to tweak formation, maybe something not dissimilar to when we finished 5th under Pardew, when Guttierez and Tiote were holding and Cabaye free to roam forward.

I’d just hope that if we go on to win and they continue to play well then it’s not scrapped and returned to the normal trio for the weekend.

Also think Gordon is looking quite decent on the right, and Krath solid at RB. If you play well you keep your spot in my book.

Add Kelly in the centre to that as fell to be fair. And Hall is coming on leaps and bounds this seasons, seems to be looking more and more solid every week.

Joelinton incensed about something. Not exactly the calmest of heads mind, but still. He looked ready to go to war. Tackle from Gordon shown frustration after a really good run and failing to capitilise. Poor tackle though, aye.

Definitely- who defence looks more settled with the extra pace and Kelly has been very good (in his preferred position rather than stuck in at LB).

He’s definitely not the cat that got the cream after that miss.

Unlucky Osula, looked much better in his sub appearance tonight than he did v Wimbledon.

I think Longstaff and Kelly (at CB) have earnt the chance to start at the weekend. Don't think they will mind. Although I don't mind us playing Joelinton on the left with Gordon on the right. Barnes is much more threatening off the bench. Bruno, Longstaff, Tonali in the centre.

That would have been such a boost to his confidence to score that

Good little bit of footwork from him in the build up as well. Hopefully he can start having some more substantial minutes off the bench with Wilson disappearing off the face of the earth.

Ultimately at the latter stages of a cup, you're going to have to play some good teams. Occassionally, especially in the league cup, you get some lower league teams squeaking through. Spurs at home probably the best draw for us, because it'll be a good game and we genuinely seem to do something to them psychologically at SJP.

For me Kelly and Longstaff should keep their place after tonight, good argument for Krafth too as Tino has been off the pace at RB,.
