Post by Toondes » Sat Nov 09, 2019 12:08 pm

Apologies for the late thread. Have a whopper hangover this morning / afternoon / evening

Bournemouth (h)

Newcastle return to Gallowgate this afternoon, when the Cherries provide the opposition in a 3pm kick-off. Tickets are on public sale.

The NUFC Foodbank collection will be taking place on Strawberry Place from 1pm - there's a special request for donations of chocolate advent calendars please.

United confirm that they will wear a customised home shirt with a poppy motif and a ceremony is planned pre-match as part of Remembrance weekend.

NUFC: Following two successful reserve team appearances, fit-again defender Florian Lejeune is available for senior team selection.

Sean Longstaff serves the second of his three game suspension while this game comes too soon for both Matt Ritchie and Fabian Schar.

BFC: Jefferson Lerma serves a one match ban.

Eddie Howe's side beat Manchester United 1-0 at home on Saturday to end a four match winless run in the Premier League - although Bournemouth lost just once in that sequence.

On the road this season, they've won at Aston Villa (2-1) and Southampton (3-1), drawn at Watford (0-0) and lost at Leicester (1-3) and Arsenal (0-1).

Stats:

After 11 PL matches of the season, United lie 15th in the table with 12 points, having scored nine goals and conceded 17.

Victory over Bournemouth would give the black and whites their highest points total at this point since the 2014/15 campaign under Alan Pardew:

NUFC last ten PL seasons after twelve games:

2018/19: 9 points, 14th (scored 9, conceded 15)
2017/18: 14 points, 11th (scored 11, conceded 14)
2015/16: 10 points, 17th (scored 13, conceded 22)
2014/15: 19 points, 5th (scored 14, conceded 15)
2013/14: 20 points, 8th (scored 17, conceded 17)

Latest PL result/fixtures:

Fri 08.11.2019:
Norwich City 0-2 Watford

Sat 09.11.2019:
Chelsea v Crystal Palace (12.30pm) BT
Burnley v West Ham (3pm)
Newcastle v Bournemouth (3pm)
Southampton v Everton (3pm)
Spurs v Sheffield United (3pm)
Leicester City v Arsenal (5.30pm) Sky

Sun 10.11.2019:
Manchester United v Brighton & Hove Albion (2pm)
Wolves v Aston Villa (2pm)
Liverpool v Manchester City (4.30pm)

Referee: Martin Atkinson - third interaction with the West Yorkshire whistler already this season and they've all been at SJP, this one following the 0-1 defeat by Arsenal and 0-0 draw with Brighton.

Last season was no better; Atkinson taking charge of the 1-2 home loss to Spurs and a scoreless stalemate on Tyneside against Fulham.

One has to go back to May 2018 to find the last time Newcastle won a game he oversaw, the 3-0 success against Chelsea, again at Gallowgate.

Since a 0-3 defeat at Everton in March 2015, Atkinson has refereed 11 Newcastle games and we've been the home side on each occasion.

We have had some opportunities and haven't looked too bad. I'd say if we keep at it we could get something.

Need to up the tempo a bit though
