If we want to progress he said. The point is that he is a good player, but if we're persisting with wing backs we could probably do with improving and getting a more orthodox specialist in. Plus he's not getting any younger.

Not good enough for the first team if we want to progress. Theres a world of difference between that and wanting to get rid
Apart from he’s easily good enough for the first team.
I think a lot of the talk was trading him in for a better model. A swap deal plus cash for Ryan Fraser was mentioned, I seem to recall. Like that was going to happen.

My biggest annoyance with Ritchie is how low quality some of his crossing and passing can be, yes you can argue he has some decent returns on creativity but I think those stats paper over some of the cracks, too many times he can be in a great position and consistently hit the first man with his balls into the box, he will then go on a good patch where he will get a few assists over a short space of time, his overall production is too erratic and he goes on too long of runs of not really producing enough, if he hadn't adapted as well as he had to LWB then I think Rafa (if he had stayed) would have been happy to shift him out. We need to remember that there's a reason he went from an attacking RW to a LWB, he was one of our main creative players who too often failed to create and frustrated a lot from good positions too many times.

He lacks quality but makes up for it with his work rate and character.

Willems is fit according to him. Pleased with that, he looked good Wednesday and we need attacking wing backs against sides like Watford.

2-1 Toon (Almiron & Joelinton)

Went to the Arsenal game, avoided the Norwich game on purpose, missed the Spurs game accidentally (long story) and will probably miss todays game due to travelling!

Part of me can see this being a massively drab 0-0...but if we win then 6 points from 4 games will be a really decent start to the season.

Almiron to score a 30yrd screamer, the crowd explodes before the goal is then ruled as offside as one of Joelintons pubes is judged to be offside and impeding the keeper.

Yeah happy with that.

I’d have posted a twitter link but I’ve deleted all social media apps.

Duba
Schar Lascelles Dummet
Kraft Hayden Longstaff Willems
Miggy Joelinton Atsu

Good team selection. Apart from Atsu wouldn't anyone say that's our strongest line-up? Of course in CB you could shift one of them in for Lejune but I'll say that's not miles away from our best XI.

Good 4 or 5 empty blocks of seats next to the away end, is that mainly allocation not taken by Watford? Block just below the away fans pretty sparse too.
